Quoting: curious 1534594 Buh huh wah hah hah. You aim low. I like to mod. And after some of the horror stories I've heard about Gibson quality control (and seen with my own eyes) I'll continue to enjoy modding lower end guitars. I have -Chinese- guitars that frankly, put some American guitars to shame (minus pickups and bridge of course) |

I bought my American Vintage Reissue new in 1994. It played killer then. Break in is a part of any guitar. All new guitars are cold to an extent. Now? Puhleeese. Well worn and worm this thing cuts like no other strat I have jammed along with. Everyone asks, as it is a plain strat with rose wood neck, what makes it so robust. Time. Hands on time and time singing at volume with an amp. That actually makes a difference and the wood opens up to the playing. |

Perhaps your hands fit a paul better and you perceive your playing as being superior on a paul as opposed to another fret board radius/ scale length. Otherwise, guitars manufactured at that level are tools that either sing to the operator or leave them distant. |

Not that it's "better" cuz obviously it's not. I just like it better lol. |

But yeah nothing sounds like a lezzy, not 100% on strat scale length and radius myself. It's a matter of preference I guess. They each have their redeeming qualities I recently found out Gibson make 7 string Lez Paul, which makes me want a seven string Gibson Les Paul. I had an Epiphone 7 Les Paul once, was a good axe for the $$. Tree-trunk neck. |

Perfect fretwork and build though.... also stable as hell with 9-52 strings (there's no deflection, just a straight path after the strings leave the nut to the tuners which always helps imo) |

Have you played a Gibson "out of the box" since they started to "Plek" all guitars at the factory before shipping? They are better than Fender out of the box and in the worst case minor adjustments to intonation only. The frets are superb. All this from a self confessed Fender player of too many years. |

Quoting: Lester 2474033 Not much of anything to upgrade great feel and sound. Should be able to find a Mex strat in good shape for $400, or haunt the pawnshops and craigs. Who wants to buy new anyway? The higher end Squiers like the vintage modified and classic vibes etc make excellent guitars to take on the road when you don't want to take your good instruments. Not as good out of the box as USA but with a few simple & inexpensive mods + a proper setup they are very worthy instruments that more than do a Live job. People don't even notice if it stays in tune. ++++++ For Squiers! I like them. |

Need new pickups for my MIA. My main axe for many years was a Strat with an ash body from Warmoth, and a Mexican Strat neck. Around 2009 the Mex made Fenders took a major step forward in quality. |

I was shocked at how good it sounded. Wasn't even Classic Vibe model. |
