Thanks hf

Start adding gelatin to her food, a tablespoon.

For severe arthritis in dogs carbon 60 in olive oil works wonders.

Google "c60 in old dogs works wonders"

Yes, I did. My pup was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia at 6 months old. They said he would be completely lame by 1 year and told me to put him down. I said no. Did alot of research and decided on Adequan shots.

Did that, he lived to 8 years old, lived a good life too. He ran, walked, played, no pain and no signs of problems.

Also had him on daily glucosamine and chrondroidin too.....and a home cooked diet of real food.

All the above and KEEP THEM AWAY FROM CANNED & DRIED FOOD. Feed your dog on the food you eat, assuming you have a diet not based around the evil clown! Plenty of vegetables and good quality meat/fish/ poultry etc.

YOU NEED TO! I work with dogs. Most important, look for Joint Strong or another similar supplement. It's msm, chondroitin and glucosamine in a powder form. The lab makes the molecules smaller and as a result the dog absorbs 0ver 90% of the ingredients as opposed to 20 to 25% from a tablet.

I've seen it help older, arthritic dogs, police G-shepherds with dysplasia and rehab dogs from Golden's to Pit's after operations. Plus older dogs who get up slowly from laying down and can't jump up on beds and couches are able to move easier WITHIN DAYS!

It kept my last Boxer healthy and athletic until almost 15 yrs old (finally Cushings got her). Just sprinkle a little on their food, for some reason they love it.

There is surgery to fix it but if the dog is really old any type of surgery could kill them. Seeing as how your dog is only 6 it would probably be okay.

You're right. I have a few clients who just throw whole chickens from the butcher to their dogs. One who rescues and rehabs bouvier's. My dog's have always chewed, every night, raw beef joints and bone marrow. Their coats always stay like puppies their whole lives and their teeth never need professional cleaning.

Had a giant Maine Coon cat who developed it. Vet wanted $3500 to "fix" it.......switched to completely raw diet, mostly ground raw turkey and chicken, lots of amino acids and proteins, .......2 weeks later he's running across yard like the wind climbing and scaling 50 foot trees chasing birds.

Thanks guys some real good advice gonna go tomorrow to get some things and try with her. She doesn't seem to be in pain 'yet' just more discomfort so hopefully I'm catching this at the early stage and can help before any real pain does kick in. It's heartbreaking when they are sick.

Glucosamine/chondroitin (sp?)
Had my lab on it her whole life.
Also don't forget things like wood floors, it hurts them as their paws don't get a good grip and can cause pain as they slide
Ended up putting in carpet runners everywhere so that she felt secure in walking

That's just dumb.

OP, have you had x-rays taken? What breed is the dog? Seems like HD usually presents earlier than that, could be arthritis from some other cause in a rescue dog. Good luck and a long life to your dog friend.

Re: Hip dysplasia in dogs - advice
I have 2 great danes, 150 and 160 pounds. I met the guy who formulated this stuff at the dog beach in Huntington Beach California.

Grand H.A. Synergy

One of my danes just stopped getting up off the bed. She had already been hit by a car when she was about 6 months old and as a result had put more weight than normal on both her back legs which caused athritis, bone chips and bone spurs in her knees and hips.

After a few days of this stuff she was better than she ever had been and now its a permanent part of both my dogs food. It gives them energy and tremendously improves their connective tissue.

It's a long story, but the guy is a Ph.D. and a chemist, and he sits on what is the equivalent of the Food and Drug Administration for animals, I forgot what he called it. He said that his product was made because he wasn't satisfied with anything else he found on the market.

This stuff saved the life of my dane.
