CNN, IMDB & other MAJOR websites are CLOSING their comment sections. This is insane! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1701023 United States 02/06/2017 12:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My local newspaper still resembles the way it did in the late 80s and early 90s the same principles apply. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72773182 Schools of journalism in the past - the distant past - once emphasized the importance of sticking to the who, what, when, where, how and why of a story. In today's era, such schools are full of extremely agenda-driven, very shamelessly liberal educators. People who deserve to be called libtards. So would-be reporters are encouraged to express their itty-bitty feelings. Consequently, the libtardism runs far and deep. That makes journalism classes, and the people who come out of them, far more corrupt and dishonest than ever before. Truth. The "media" hasn't been neutral since Walter Cronkite announced during his broadcast that the U.S. lost the Viet Nam War (when we were actually winning it). |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72536140 United States 02/06/2017 01:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just curious, before the internet, did newspapers dedicate the same amount of space in their papers for comment and rebuttal of each of their stories? What did you all do then? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41132329 The thing is, nobody actually reads the comments of those sections except for pure entertainment. They are always filled by trolls and shills and bots, and the few idiots who don't understand that they're trying to argue with not real people. I guess this is where real ID for the internet comes into play. You want to make public comments, then stand up and let the world know who you are. Anyone care to open up that can of worms? Yes newspapers have entire sections devoted to readers comments that can write in. It takes a lot more effort and less people do it so it is not on equal footing with the front page propoganda but people who care seek them out and read them. Of course the editor of the paper gets to decide what is printed and what is not. As far as opening the can of worms young girls didn't get their blonde heads cracked open for wearing a Ronald Reagan hat back in newspaper days like they do now for wearing a Trump hat and stalkers had tobputvin a lot more work then to simply log in to white pages or intellius to stalk their victims at their houses so I no longer think real IDs are safe. I think services like Intellius that are stalking their victims should have restraining orders against them and be punished criminally for the stalking they have already done on all of us and sell it to the public. |

I find the comments even more enlightening than the articles. Recently I read an article in the LA Times about deporting illegals. It told a sob story about how harmful it would be to get rid of them, then I scrolled down to the comments expecting to see a lot of people complaining about Trump deporting illegals. I was stunned to see that like 99% of those commenting wanted the illegals to be booted out of the country. Only two or three people wanted them to stay. Meanwhile, there were several hundred posters from all over California saying to kick them out, and I didn't think the LA Times had a conservative readership. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73933590 United States 02/06/2017 02:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | removing comments sections is NOT CENSORSHIP you are still free to speak publicly about CNN, you just can't do it on their site the exact same way people talk shit about glp get banned on glp but go to other sites and talk shit about glp. Comment section are like what, 10 years old, and you all act like if a site removes it, it's some sort of breach of free speech. You don't have a right to comment on a private business's site if the private business doesn't want you to but you can still talk about it ANYWHERE ELSE online the comical aspect of glp-ers getting outraged over this is how often glp-ers demand users who have opinions that go against glp are banned "ban this filth" and glp users regularly ban users from threads, like the Comedian who bans people ALL THE TIME from his threads And you know why he gets to do that? Same reason CNN does, because it is a private business |
