This could backfire on them. A lot of conservative news sites, like Breitbar t, have comment sections. This could cause more readers to gravitate over to those sites.

This is one genie that I don't think they can put back in the bottle. People have become too accustomed to being able to give their opinion on news stories. I know in my case, that I just can't back to reading the news without being able to comment on it or read the comments of others. I really enjoy seeing all the feedback.

I first noticed this trend a while back with some sites. First it was requiring people to register with email addresses and the social media accounts (to try and trim the trolling - haha), but now it's true - comment sections are flat out gone, which is a shame because some articles were more interesting because of the user generated feedback.

I am in the process of solving this problem.

If you are reading this post, you will see the solution very soon.

The only reason I ever go to those sites is to read the comments, people will repost the news later if it's important of this I have little doubt.
