This is why they need to build more massive, ugly concrete dams in No. Cal. - drying up all your rivers as much as possible - and piping ALL your water to the So. Cal. water mafia. THIS is why No. Cal. aquifers are being depleted.

Old-timers drained Lake Tulare for the farmland a hundred years ago and have been pumping both the shallow and ancient deep aquifier DRY to grow water-intensive crops. A large portion of the land there is so saline now that they're restricted to a few non-food crops with heavy irrigation.

Land subsidence (30+ ft.) from the permanently ruined Tulare basin deep aquifer is so bad that it's now going to flood every wet year no matter what. That includes surrounding towns, so you're going to pay more taxes for new levees to protect the sinking towns and their infrastructure. Insurance companies will raise everyones' rates for flood insurance payouts to these 'poor' farm landlords. Meanwhile, their tenant farmers, dependent locals and immigrant slave labor will suffer the most and get nothing.

That will also require more of your tax dollars for water conveyance to So. Cal. for the land-stripping corporate farmers, who will continue pumping the aquifers there dry - because it's free and they can. Every drought season, all other valley farmers will pay a water 'tax' in higher prices and lower water tables so these greedy bastards can get even richer.
