Crunch.. in the dirt abutment on either side of the SW that have been cleared and appear to have steps being made on them.. it looks today like some concrete maybe is being dumped... to right side as seen on the net.. the side that does not have the ES on it...

Looking at the lower cam, it does look like fresh concrete applied to the right side, near the bottom.

I have no idea for what purpose or if they are planning to cover the entire the entire side apron area. It seems covering that area would compromise drainage from under the spillway, but I am no engineer.

This is absolutely criminal.

We are very aware of ocean water tides from the moon's gravitational pull. Many people don't know that the earths crust also goes up and down as much as a foot. The constant pumping creates internal heat and pressure far below.

I don't know when the next big quake will be, but I expect the nefarious green Agenda 21/30 CA people in league with DWR to breach the dam and blame it on the quake.

I wonder what kind of releases they had in normal years for irrigation.

Was there a period when the SW was used often to maintain irrigation levels?

Are they trying to meet their agreed releases?

I wonder if they are near what was normal water releases in the past?

Of coarse this is also air conditioning season so a good market for all the electricity they can produce.

Irrigation water comes from the Thermalito Forebay and Afterbay where it is stored. It is difficult to judge irrigation releases based on dam releases.

Since the main spillway can only be used down to about 840', it was not used often in the dry season.

There were many years the reservoir level was low throughout the summer, and many boaters and fishermen complained about it. Lake Oroville is a great bass fishing lake, I have caught a few lunkers myself.

As far as I know, the power produced by the Hyatt Power Plant and the Thermalito power plant is used only for operating the California Water Project. It isn't for sale to run air conditioners. Of course, the greed factor may apply.

FORGOT, TOSS IN THE MERCURY RETROGRADE GOING STATIONARY AND THEN DIRECT RIGHT AROUND THESE TIMES...ILL GET THE EXACT DATA LATUH..

My zucchini started out great, but then they turned yellow. Weird.

My tomatoes are slowing down since the heat started, but the peppers are perking up.

I have already canned a ton of salsa, BBQ sauce, chili base and spaghetti sauce, so I am good on tomatoes for this year.

I need to eradicate the gophers. I have 'plan B' on order

My maters are just beginning. Ate the first 2 small ones this morning.

Zuch I try to get the flower remnants off the fruit. Tends to rot. Any fruit that's not forming without damage gets plucked and discarded. Had one turn yellow.
Buncha cukes this year. A few big ones getting old turned yellow, kinda normal for them. 3 big bags picked up by a neighbor this morning for canning.
Got a few cantelope so far, trying to watch them and get them before ripe, the raccoons are ever vigilant!
Pick them a bit early and leave on porch to ripen.

Although I have had them eaten by raccoons on the porch!

You have August and September very dry months for Oroville but on average the rainfall totals start to go up in October. I doubt even if everything goes well the level would be below the 813 feet where there would no pressure on the gates once again. It might be down to 860 in mid September if all goes well. They are just to worried about looking bad to ask for helping in getting the lake levels down further. Water pumped out other places in the basin but they don't want to admit they can't open the spillway period it would in all likelihood result in disaster.

Hope for a drought for California this coming fall and spring it's the best hope the spillway has to stay intact longer.

The Hyatt power thing won't cut it if there are a couple of really big storms close together in the season and the rest of the season is normal unless there is help getting the lake levels down asap.

It seems Juan blancornholio is battling prostate cancer and has been grounded by the FAA.

Even a normal rainy season will be too much to release via the Hyatt PP. When inflows approach 50,000+ CFS, the Hyatt PP will be just a bystander.

I suspect heads are exploding in DWR meetings right now.
