So, the structure workers spent weeks building on the top of the ES buttress above the tent guy turns out to be a gray fence.

What possible purpose does it serve? It isn't accessible to anyone, even the workers were using a 30' extension ladder to reach the area.
 Quoting: Crunch62

I just wondered the same thing just now when I went there.. is it some type of diversion of water barrier? Only thing I can think of.
Quoting: ALL IS ONE IS ALL

Its a wooden fence. I don't think it would be very effective as a water barrier.

So, what is it for?

I thought about that. Blocking the view down into the gate structure from vehicles on the road to/from the launch ramp?

It is certainly possible. If true, it raises the DWR coverup/conspiracy to another level.

A man pushing a baby stroller and two women just walked across the spillway bridge. How did they get past security?

The lake is now 30 feet down from full, if you can believe CA DWR's BS numbers.

[link to cdec.water.ca.gov (secure)]

DWR lies and doublespeak, after they told us the reservoir would be kept full throughout the summer and no work needed to be done on the gates.

Zero responses to my inquiries of the Sheriff and DWR regarding the work being done in the gate structure.

Bastards.
 Quoting: Crunch62

Crunch.. can you get to a place some where so you can see the lake against the emergency spillway and get a pic.. they have taken down I guess the cam that was one that.

I'll be in town early tomorrow, I'll see if I can get up there. The last I heard, the road was closed due to a fiber cable installation or something.

I have forgotten what it looked like as it was being built.. Its grey like concrete now.... todays' shot is a bit better.. it is I guess wood.

Just watched a crane on the upper spillway moving what appears to be a load of some sort of gas canisters.... lots of people up there today...water flow is down.

lots of activity and traffic on the upper part today.

when it suddenly goes.. you won't be saying that... I would advise you to study failed dams... It was poorly built to start with.

the spillway has leaking water coming thru it.. it is VISIBLE. This is NOT leaking gates I am talking about.. its water from underneath the spillway. where does that come from?

Sure, Folsom is a nice dam, especially since they added that second spillway.

It was a shitshow when that original gate broke years ago.

Great footage Crunch. I never saw the video of the boat going in before. Wow. Glad those two guys were able to save themselves on a buoy.

Here's the thing. That Folsom gate was the exact same kind of Tainter Gate that we have at Oroville. The only difference is that it was 40 years old when it broke, and the O Gates are 50 years old.

I am convinced they were petrified to open the gates. Whether vibrations that threatened to break something, or the cracks and rusted rebar, whatever the reason, I think they feared another Folsom.

So, will they be ready for a very rainy spring if that happens? Will they decide to risk the emergency SW? Will they take down the dam altogether? Are the gates even truly fixable if the end of the gate structure is settling to cause cracking?

I am sure you are very relieved to get that sweet letter back from DWR that everything is just fine with the gates and the dam.

I had another dream about the dam being about ready to fail. It seemed like toward the bottom of the spillway there was some green grass growing but it started to become really muddy near the bottom of the spillway then ominously part of the spillway broke off on top a few feet not near emergency spillway but the part where it's about 20 feet further up than the ems and where it seems to sinking.

I don't know if they will be prepared, but DWR poor judgement has a long history around here.

The lake is now over 50 feet down from full elevation and they are still dumping water as as fast as they can through the power plant. This, after DWR stated they were going to 'keep it full all summer'.

Something is definitely up. If they are trying to get the reservoir down below 813' to affect repairs, they are running out of time. Heaviest rain here is November through February.

I imagine that at some point, we'll get the truth.

They are hosing and sweeping off slabs in one row (L to R), but makes no sense they wouldn't start at the top and work their way down. Just one row. Odd.

Also people working at the top of the gate structure. Can't tell what they are doing.
