I'm not so sure it's a good idea to display images of the giant undercut that's happening under that spillway.
It will just freak people out.
They may have asked the media to back off so they can fix it... As best they can.
I suspect they will drop loads of rock by air, and then a massive amount of concrete which will cure in 1 hour.
It's the size of the undercut that's got them concerned. The water entering that hole is washing out the back side support of the dam. Nobody can really know the size of that hole by now... They have to risk that, and fill the void with everything they have.
That town is at risk until July.
I'm not sure they will lift the evacuation until they get a peek at the size of the undercut into the dam support below the spillway.

Quoting: Switchback 74039853 Geology. Water chooses the easiest route. If you can fill the hole, the water chooses the spillway. I will be a race between the water riding and filling the void in the spillway. I have no doubt we will see 5 helicopters dropping material in that hole, while a concrete batch plant makes hot concrete that cures in 1-2 hours, to fill the voids. All this must be coordinated and completed within 48 hours. A challenging task, but very possible, once you have the equipment on site and able to transport the material and make the hot concrete. Right now I'm sure they are assembling the batch plant and gathering the rock. They will patch the breech as soon as there is enough material hauled onto the site. They need to haul in a 1/2 a mountain of rock , sand, and concrete. Give them another day to coordinate the mission. . ^^ They will repair it as soon as they have enough material on scene.
