Before you go FAKE NEWS note that the chairs of the House and Senate Intel Committees (Repubs both) confirmed that the admin asked them to vouch for the Russian-Trump connection stories having no merit. Sometimes the news is not fake.

At the least, this action by the admin is dumb. They look like amateurs in the Walter Sobchak sense of the word. It also makes Trump look guilty.

These committees are controlled by Republicans. If there's nothing to the story, Trump should let them investigate, find nothing, and move on. This would have greatly strengthened his hand and quelled a lot of dissent.

Trump would be well served to hire one swamp dweller to tell him how to handle this kind of thing. Current crew -- not cutting it.
