What happens if my hard drive crashes, or internet goes down for a month.

Then you'd just need to find someone who has the blockchain themselves, or re-download it yourself and sync up. Very easy. This doesn't sound like a very good idea to me. Too many variables. And not safe. Relies 100% on the internet.
