Message Subject Jesus admits he is not Messiah in Mathew Gospel

Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, that is why he was crucified, we have confirmation of this from outside the bible, just about all critical NT scholars would agree that Jesus claimed to be the Messiah.

Even Bart Ehrman (one of the top NT scholars) who is Atheist agrees that Jesus claimed to be the messiah...

The only real debate is about Jesus claiming to be God.

Different authors will make different claims about the divinity of Jesus and when it started, they would make different claims about who Jesus said he was, but they all agree on a few things (very few)...

They all agree that Jesus was the son of God and they all agree that he is the Messiah.

That being said, the type of Messiah they expected was very different than what they got...

We also have to remember that we have no idea who wrote any of the gospels, but the consensus among critical scholars is that none of the gospel authors ever met Jesus in their life.

Not even Paul met Jesus while he was alive.

If you do that then you are only left with the words of Paul.

We can't even say who wrote anything else, but the evidence points to authors that never actually met Jesus, and who got their information from other people.

Paul/Saul met Jesus on the way to Damascus and verified by Peter and the rest of the disciples.

Yes that is the claim, but not exactly as you stated, it was not verified by Peter or the disciples as Peter and the disciples never wrote anything that is in the NT.

Paul's vision is problematic for many reasons (contradictions that make it hard to know what he really saw) but Paul is as authentic as it gets in the NT.

I can see many reasons why people might believe Paul.

If you read my last posts carefully, you will see that i said that none of the authors of the NT met Jesus while he was alive...

Read carefully and still cant find "while he was alive".

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote unto you; as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction (2 Peter 3:15-16).
