Mandatory Car Insurance vs. Mandatory Health Insurance
Car insurance is required in most states. Many folks are balking against mandatory health insurance. This has made me think quite a bit about the two types of insurance. Owning/driving a car is not mandatory - it's a choice - however, most of us get insurance because it's required. Apply the same thought to having a body. You can say an individual has no choice to having a body - but it sure seems these same folks are pro-life. Therefore, remove the choice, then accept mandatory health insurance.

I realize this is a controversial subject. I just ask you all to think about it before you hit me with negative Karma.

Mandatory liability insurance, meaning if i cause damage to someone else its covered.

Mandatory health insurance is just for the individual. Also the non mandated "mandatory" health insurance that has been required before obamacare is what has allowed hospitals to price out self payers

I considered this. How about the liability to our families, scrabbling to find money to pay for treatment, or to our local hospital that writes off millions in uncovered/unrecoverable cost? I'm really not trying to be inflammatory or an asshole. It's just been on my mind.

Dont see your argument. That family is scrambling due to the monopoly insurance companies have on health care. You don't end a monopoly by letting them use the government as their enforcers in their extortion scheme.

Thank you for reading and not just being negative. I agree costs for care are out of this world. I was just wondering how others thought about this subject.

I really hate car insurance. It should be called "protect your car from stupid drivers" insurance. Seriously at least 60% of americans don't know how to make a right turn/signal, at my 4 way stop I maybe recorded over at least 50+ accidents throughout the year, cause people don't know how to fking turn!

I feel ya, here in Oregon we have an even more confusing law. We can make a left at a stoplight/stop sign if turning onto a one way street.

Re: Mandatory Car Insurance vs. Mandatory Health Insurance
Insurance is money you pay to be denied benefits and coverage.

I can't afford any medical or dental care anyway because I have too much old medical debt to clear up.
But they still keep taking out the premiums, as if I could somehow cough up the $ for a doctor or dentist after losing that much money each week.

I can't think of anything else I pay for with no expectation of benefit.

Seems like legalized parasites to me.
Last two times I needed medical, insurance denies treatment, so I guess I'll just give up.
