If the Sun ever kicks up a massive amount of current via some rare event, the Moons surroundings and tail should glow the same color as a street light. If we can see it or not is another issue. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 53929545 Actually, don't start looking. You won't understand anything you see. Ok, show me a moon phase calendar that shows the bottom of the moon lit up? No. That is not normal. Yes it is the bottom that is crescent. Moon phase calendars do not account for field rotation, nor can they since it depends on your location and when you are looking. It's normal though. Field rotation LMAO! According to the heliocentric model the moon should rise and set at the same place in the sky relative to your latitude. But that's not what we observe! Like the sun, the moon rises and sets low in the sky and high in the sky throughout the year! That's because the moon is circling above the earth in concentric circles, which is the same reason the moon rotates in the sky! Heliotard FAIL!! |

The moon's orbit is inclined so it will not rise and set at a constant location. In fact, the rising and setting location of the Moon matches perfectly with my calculations in that spreadsheet. And yes, my spreadsheet does calculate it as the moon orbiting the round earth has the two of them orbit around the sun. I use the spreadsheet for a variety of applications including calculating the transit of the Moon through the coronagraph in Stereo behind from 2007 and various eclipses from the SDO spacecraft. It worked for that as well. Last Edited by Astromut on 04/01/2017 10:47 AM |

Definitely interesting and would like to see it myself. A family member took a series of 15 photos of a full moon. Each photo was taken in immediate succession...one after the other in under a minute...without changing settings and without moving the camera. All the pics were the same...a full moon. Except one. The moon looked like a large slice of the side was clipped off. The moon photos before and after it looked normal Never would've believed it without seeing it myself |

There are other forums that enforce strict civility but this is not one of them. Treat me with respect and I will do the same, treat me disrespect and I will do the same.
