Yup, one was dead under the snow couple years back, wings tucked in, and looked frozen, why?

Is this one of those "bats are not real" threads?

Yes

House I lived in had bats in the attic. My cat would catch them and leave them as 'presents' for me.

On the sidewalk once.....

Hear them at night screeching by the yacht club, creepy sound, bats in the belfry.

Several. I used to work in a warehouse. Living and dead bats and birds are common in warehouses.

Lots of times.
We'd catch them when I was a kid and forget about them in the jar. They smell like hell when you open the jar.

After I had the "beard" of palm fronds trimmed from my trees, I found a baby bat in the limbs. I think he slept through the whole ordeal of trimming the palm. I gloved up and pet him on the head before sticking the little feller in a comfortable shady nook of a nearby tree. I am sure he turned out alright.

Re: Have you personally ever laid eyes upon a dead bat?
sort of.

Was making an overnight drive from Lubbock to San Antonio at high speed and a bat hit my driver's door mirror and got hung up there.

I kept driving and it was flapping like crazy on my mirror for many miles. I do not believe it was alive anymore, when it finally dislodged and fell off.

I guess it might've been though.

Found one in the street when I was a kid but they are rare to find in the open like that. Like others are saying, look in their nesting areas and you will find some dead ones.

When I was a kid in Indiana we used to play outside at night and throw the right sized rocks into the air and bats would strike and drop to the ground dazed for a bit. I found a dead one a couple of years ago in a spring pipe out in the wilderness.
