I would tend to think Piggly Wiggly's would be in backwaters but Denton, TX is on the northern end of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex; has close to 100,000 population in it's own right and has 2 universities. So it's not your typical backwater, one stop sign town that I would tend to think of when thinking of Piggly Wiggly.

We don't have any Publix around here. We do have Kroger, WalMart, Tom Thumb and Albertson's. I generally prefer Kroger. Don't know why... they just seem the best.

What? No Brookshires?

Oh I forgot...Denton is too big to have a Brookshires.

BTW, Winn Dixie is only in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. They've shrunk considerably over the years. There used to be Winn Dixie stores in Texas.

Publix is in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee.

As for store cleanliness...in Savannah, GA that is, the sole Publix and the newer Kroger were probably the best. The other stores were rather shabby.

Oh, you're right. We used to have a Winn Dixie but Brookshire's bought them out. So we have a Brookshire's but I've never been in it. I forgot they just built a big Super Target next to the big Wal-Mart Supercenter. Plus, like I said we have the two ancient Piggly Wiggly's. Walking into those stores is like something from the 1950's or something. They are pretty tiny and they just smell kind of weird, y'know. Kind of like how church has a certain smell... well, Piggly Wiggly's smell like grocery store. The Kroger's and Target's and etc. don't have that smell.
