Why Do People Say You Go To Heaven When You Die When...

The corrupt body turns to "dust" and goes back into the ground when you die.

But......not the soul. The soul is eternal.

Matthew 10:28  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

A + B = a living soul
WHAT ARE A & B ??

Dust + Breath of life (spirit of life/the ghost) = living soul

Breath is one component, but does not represent B.

Genesis 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the {A} dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the {B} breath of life; = and man became a living soul.

The Bible is truth, so those who understand the people, do know the truth. And the Bible speaks of a resurrection from the death, not of a part of you that goes on to live for all eternity elsewhere, that is impossible to kill.

There is the flesh, spirit, and soul. The spirit is eternal

Where do the Scriptures indicate man's spirit is eternal?

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

So Jesus went to heaven with the thief as soon as He died?

John 20:17  Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

If Jesus had not yet gone to heaven, as here indicated, either He lied, or He didn't go to heaven when He died. That is a misplaced comma, which should be placed after the word "today".

Some of those verses refer to "soul" as the person and some refer to the "spirit' of a person. You have to know the difference.

The body turns to dust, but the spirit goes back to God for either eternal life in heaven or eternal punishment in hell.

2 corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."

W could get into a long discussion about this as I used to believe as you do. As one of jehovah's witnesses I was taught this and I believed it. It wasn't until I left the organiztion and started studying the bible myself did I see that this was in fact wrong.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 agrees with what I'm saying. The dust goes back to the earth, and the spirit returns unto God who gave it. That spirit is the breath of life. Are you that breath of life? No. Are you life? No. Christ is life. You are alive.

What verse says man is a spirit? Man has the spirit of life, and there is the spirit of man, but such has a connection to the mind and heart. And those perish at death. So, I'll ask again, what verse says man is a spirit? And what says his spirit is eternal?

What's the point of the resurrection of damnation to you, if they shall awake again, only to be cast right back into the flames?

See Point 14 for Absent from the body, and present with the Lord. That's the resurrection, not the moment of death.

A lot of things that Christians say or believe are not found in the bible. In fact the Bible tells them to NOT to do certain things that Christians deem as 'christian'. Still other things are just not in the Bible.

It's all about context......that's where you're running into problems.

The soul that sins shall die is talking about generaational sins, the person that is sinning is the person that will die......not his children.

These things do not mean what you think they mean. You have been misled and that's usually the case with these groups.....like the jw group I used to belog to. It's brainwashing of wrong doctrine.

The point of the ressurection is 2 fold. The ressurection happens at the beginning of the millenial reign. The righteous spirits will return to earth and be given perfect physical bodies so they can rule and reign on the earth for 1000 years. They could not do this without a body.

And the unrighteous will be brought back with their corrupt body and judged and cast into the lake of fire. They are not in the lake of fire right now they are in tartarus awaiting that judgement day.......and they will be given their corrupt body bback because this judgeent will be done for all the earth to witness. That also could not be done without a physical body.

This is all very deep and complex, and i'm typing out on a barely functioning chromebook. I don't mind getting into a long discussion with you if you're actually willing to listen and learn, but if you're just here trying to converty others to your group, then I won't put the time and effort in because it would be pointless and a waste of time.

I'm with you on these points, OP. But one thing people always quote is the parable in Luke about the rich man and Lazarus.

Now I know this is a parable, but why would Yahushua give us the impression there is an afterlife post death but before resurrection if there isn't one?
