Why do females in cities not say 'thank you' when you hold the door open.

I notice this as well and believe it or not some of the people with the best manners are young women.

Because YOU ARE sub class to her. Do toy have anyyyyyyy idea how uncomfortable most women are especially in cities, the amount of sexual assault and harassment they receive. Don't be ignorant. I'm telling you right now, whether you like it or not, you coming ady women like this makes you a complete piece of shit. Maybe all the other times she thanked someone for opening a door, it opened her up for harassment by a man she can do nothing to protect herself against. Learn some respect man.

I stopped holding doors for woman years ago. With all the hatred between the sexes today it's just not worth it. Never ever open a door for woman and certainly don't wait for them "to go first" through the said door. You will be looked down upon, even if sub-consciously by the woman. If you're both approaching the same door and in your opinion you think that you will approach the door at the same time, make sure you grab the handle first, do not hold it open, simply walk through and make sure the door is closing as you pass into the building. If you feel she will make it to the door first then slow down and reach for another door (if their is one-even if it is a few feet away). She is certainly never going to keep it open for you. Never make eye contact under any circumstances, just look straight ahead. Most doors today, especially in more public spaces are self opening, so it is now becoming a thing of the past anyways.

I stopped holding doors for folks in Los Angeles unless they are handicapped or old. Young women can go fuck themselves.

I am a woman and am always THANKFUL when anyone holds the door for me. I mean really? Do some women get offended? I've held the door open for both sexes and didn't hear a peep from either of them. Some are too good for school apparently. I still do it. Maybe one day.

If you start to think like this, just stop opening doors for them.

I am a woman and if anyone is close, I open the door for them, whether they acknowledge it or not.

I say thank you when people do it for me.

As a matter of fact, a young black man (14 or so) opened the door for me and kind of stood at attention to the side, and I said, "how charming, your mother must be so proud of you". He blushed and said, "Yes, Maam." I wanted to give him positive feed back on his manners.

If I am there first I just hold
it open for the person behind me.
Whether it be male or female.
And have noticed that men say
Thank You more than women.
A lot more !
Perhaps they just appreciate some
one being kind and polite.
Not Sure about that though?
As for women who don't say Thank You.
I wait until they are well past me
and into wherever and then say
"Welcome"
Though I have never had a reaction
to doing so. Think they women like
that are just to self absorbed perhaps.

And I started doing that..... And add
an appropriate greeting to the time
of day like "morning" or "evening"
