Italy makes 12 vaccines mandatory for school-age children

"The Italian government on Friday made 12 vaccines mandatory for children attending school up to age 16 in an effort to combat what it characterizes as misinformation about vaccines.

The government approved making 12 vaccines, including measles, rubella and chickenpox, mandatory starting this September…

… children will not be accepted into nursery or pre-schools without proof of vaccinations, …parents of children legally obliged to attend school will face hefty fines for noncompliance. The certification will be required every year, she said."

Italy is currently experiencing a large measles outbreak due to unvaccinated kiddies thanks in part to Italy's "5-Star movement". Romania is also experiencing a large measles outbreak linked to the unvaccinated. Both countries have CDC travel advisories concerning measles. Belgium and Germany are also listed in the advisories due to measles outbreaks:

If you are traveling to any of these countries make sure you have been vaccinated against measles. Since the USA eliminated endemic measles most US outbreaks have been caused by unvaccinated US citizens visiting countries with endemic measles and bringing back a souvenir to share with their unvaccinated friends and everyone else.
