loved the original series, read this thread yesterday and started watching from the beginning, i fugure by the time i am done with the frist two seasons and fire walk with me the wife will be caught up with game of thrones i can switched the hbo sub to a showtime sub to watch the new stuff... can't wait!

Now we're starting to get going here. Glad to see everybody starting to talk about things. Again, please try and keep all of the talk about Parts 3 & 4 off this thread until after they air properly on Sunday night. I know it's hard - so much to talk about and contemplate.

Esoteric Morgan - THANKS for taking over the thread when I'm not here. I appreciate it a LOT. I'll be practicing tonight and tomorrow with my band - we have a gig on Thursday night. So I'm going to need you to keep pulling night shifts here when you can throughout the week and keep this thing rolling.

Wow! For someone who watched it, you sure didn't get it. You say that you saw Fire Walk With Me. Didn't you notice the shift in mood way back then? It started as a goofy soap opera/murder mystery with quirky characters, but soon evolved WAY past that. In Fire Walk With Me, Lynch did away with most of the underlying humor - which bothered some people back then - to focus on what we had all discovered was REALLY going on. And that is NOT funny. Or light entertainment. I would have been more than a little disappointed if it HAD gone back to that feel.

Now, you said you weren't going to "ruin it for anyone" and then you went and mentioned a scene from Part 3. The scene you bring up with the Asian woman is SO important. I have a LOT of things to say about it. But we'll get to it Monday after Parts 3 & 4 air on Sunday night.

It IS Lyncharian, as you say. And it's down to the nitty and gritty of what it's all about. If you need a safe television show then go back to the network garbage. This is meant for thinking fans of Lynch and Twin Peaks. So enjoy it for what it is.










No. And I'm pretty sure that we won't. Windom met a very final demise from Bob who wqas VERY pissed that Earle had tried to make a deal with Cooper's soul. I believe he was attempting to stay alive in the other realm by doing that. But Bob seemed to rip his soul out in the end and that looked pretty damn final to me.

Mädchen Amick is a total hottie and looks fantastic as a full grown woman. She is also quite sweet. Fenn is pretty bitchy.










I hadn't thought about the Philadelphia Experiment, but how apropos considering the time traveling / time displacement element that is entering the show. Hmmm...

Do you judge albums after one or two songs? Do you judge a whole movie based on it's first 20 minutes?. Because this is an 18 hour movie. It can't suck yet because it hasn't finished. But if you REALLY can't see the magic that is already there, I feel sorry for you.

Do you remember the great ad campaign for David's movie Lost Highway? The movie critics Siskel and Ebert gave it two thumbs down. The ad that ran in the movie section of newspapers then declared "TWO THUMBS DOWN!" And under that headline “Two more great reasons to see Lost Highway.”










I agree. I'm so glad it didn't try to recapture ANY old feelings. I mean, it's 25 years later and this world has changed a LOT. And not for the better.

Each part is around one hour long. Sunday night aired Parts 1 & 2. Parts 3 & 4 are up On Demand and will air properly this coming Sunday. After that, I've been told that it will be strictly one hour a week with NO early On Demand dumping with the final two parts airing together at the end.

Now for all of your other questions - good ones, by the way. What IS "Bob Cooper" up to? Or, as he's starting to be called in the Twin Peaks world - Snakeskin Cooper. Well, he's trying REAL hard not to get taken back to The Black Lodge. Apparently, the twenty-five year cycle also calls back beings. It's at the least calling back Evil Coop. I don't think he works for anybody but himself. You caught the bad communication! Yes, indeed. But did you hear WHO the contact was? It was supposed to be Phillip Jeffries. But it wasn't his voice and Cooper finally realized that. He is NOT connected to the billionaire, IMHO. No, the killing methods were not all the same. Doc was receiving a large shipments of shovels. And the body - or parts of two bodies - is somehow connected to Evil Cooper. Or so it seems. Only time will tell.










Thank you, Buddy! All this time we've been Buddies on GLP and never even knew that we had this in common. Glad you joined the thread. Beautiful area up there. My wife is from Olympia and I lived in Seattle for awhile which is how I was able to get there to watch some of the filming for Fire Walk With Me.

Ahhhhhhh...somebody else did notice it. I hadn't read this far down the thread when I made my previous post. Yes, indeed. Leland killed Jacques. And that was DEFINITELY the actor who played Jacques. And they aren't trying to make him look any different. Jacques was the second of three brothers - the other two being his younger brother Bernard and his older brother Jean. So what the hell is he doing back in the Roadhouse serving drinks? His character is listed as Jean-Michel Renault. But he looks EXACTLY like Jacques.

Like I said in my previous post, I'm not sure what is going on. But I believe that time displacement and alternate timelines plays an important role in all of this. One thing that adds to my theory is in The Secret History of Twin Peaks book. In that history, Norma's mother has a completely different name and is said to have died long before the murder of Laura Palmer. But her mother shows up with her new husband Ernie in tow - quite alive - for a few episodes during Season 2. When Mark Frost was asked how he could have made such a mistake in his book, he said that it wasn't a mistake and that all would be revealed later. All I can think of with all of this is that there is an alternate Earth within what we are watching that we don't know about yet. And THAT could explain a lot of things. It makes sense with the duality of the entire series - down to it's name...Twin Peaks.










You may just be too damn lazy for this show. No one can "explain" it to you. You need to go back and watch it from the beginning. It's worth the ride!










Cute. Too bad Lost sucked at the end and it was all just a dying man's last visions. This show promises to have a MUCH better ending than that Twin Peaks wannabe did. Guaranteed (because it couldn't possibly be any worse).










Lynch loves music. The Roadhouse is a bar in the show that features music. If you're having a problem figuring out THIS "mystery", good luck with the rest of it.










How could that be, though? People would recognize him. Unless it's a cousin that happens to look JUST like him, we could be in the OTHER timeline where Norma's mother has a slightly different name. Just sayin'.

So, is it future or is it past? Are we in the same reality - or on the same Earth - as we were in the previous series and movie? Lynch went to great pains to number our reality if you watched Fire Walk With Me closely. Like I mentioned to some of you in private emails, I believe that these beings use electricity to travel. That was shown very clearly in the movie. And the telephone pole outside of the Fat Trout Trailer Park is shown over and over to have the number six on it. Why is this telephone pole significant? Because it's right next to the trailer where Teresa Banks disappeared. And that's where we last saw Agent Desmond as he was finding the ring under Teresa's trailer. And finally, that's where the manager of the trailer park - Carl Rodd - also lives. And Rodd told Agent Desmond, "I've already gone places. I just want to stay where I am."

I just rewatched Parts 1 & 2 with a friend who was gone over the weekend. Boy, the second time through it really starts to feel a little more like the old episodes. Not it's timbre, of course. But just the way it flows. Even though it's so much more intense. It's twenty-five years later, even the intro has matured, but it still feels like Twin Peaks to me. Only better.

As for Jacoby - you got some more ideas there, Morgan? Don't hold back on us now. What did you think of when you said mountain man? I can't for the life of me figure out where your mind went with that thought. Am I missing something?

Great find! I remember this scene well. I always thought that it meant Hawk would wind up inside The Black Lodge trying to find the Good Dale. But now, it takes on a whole new meaning after Parts 1 & 2. And now, it all makes more sense since Margaret told him that finding what is missing of Cooper has to do with his heritage. His Nez Perce heritage (which are the indians who ruled over this region before the white man came).










This is good. Every page of this thread is delving a little deeper into the mystery. I'm glad to have all of you here and posting. THANK YOU ALL! This is great and we should have a fun summer with this. We didn't have online forums to talk about the show the first time around. And it's a show worth discussing as it unfolds.

Walter Olkewicz who originally played Jacques Renault has had some serious knee problems over the years resulting in multiple (19 I think) surgeries on just one of his knees. So that's probably what you heard about and why he might have shown some discomfort standing behind that bar. BUT - and here's where I don't like going - he's a Scientologist. I bring this up NOT to begin a discussion on Scientology, but as a warning.

Walter has done MANY funding campaigns over the last decade to raise money for his various knee operations. And, from what I can tell, he's still doing it. Some people believe that this is all just a sham and that he does this to help raise money for Scientology. I'm just bringing this up in case any of you beautiful and dedicated Peakers decide to send Walter some money to help him out. Understand where the money that you send may be going.

As for his role on the new Twin Peaks - see my previous posts for more details on exactly what I think is happening with time and space on the show. But here's the quick facts - Jacques was the second of three brothers. The other two being his younger brother Bernard and his older brother Jean - both of whom we know from Season 2. And there are NO other Renault brothers. His character is listed as Jean-Michel Renault. It would have to be a cousin or something. But he looks EXACTLY like Jacques. Which leads me to believe we are looking at an alternate version of the town of Twin Peaks.

I've heard those theories that you mention. They've always been there. "Is it future, or is it past"? We are looking at a linear timeline. EVERYTHING that has ever been or will ever be has already happened. I think THAT has already been proven. For instance, Annie in Laura's bed - bloodied up like she was at the end - telling Laura to write things in her diary about the Good Cooper being trapped in the Lodge. Neither Cooper nor Annie even arrived in town - let alone discovered and entered The Black Lodge - until AFTER Laura died. That pretty much proves the linear timeline right there.

There's also Cooper's dreams. Are they really prophetic? Are they even dreams? Or is he just tapping into that timeline where the future has already happened and grabbing clues?

Now - not to downplay my own theory, but to add to it and confuse it a bit - in Fire Walk With Me, there's a VERY important scene in Gordon Cole's FBI office. Agent Phillip Jeffries (played beautifully by the late great David Bowie) has been missing for almost two years. Agent Cooper has had a dream in which Jeffries shows up on a certain date and at a certain time, gets off the elevator, walks down the hall to Cole's office, and proceeds to tell Cooper, Cole and Albert Rosenfield what he has learned from the mysterious "Judy"(we'll get into who "Judy" may be later). But things go awry. Cooper assembles everybody in Cole's office. That's why Albert is there. Because Cooper told Gordon that he NEEDED him there. He looks at his watch, sees the time approaching, and goes to watch the security feed from the hallway.

And THAT'S where things get real strange, but I believe are tied in with where we are NOW.

At the appointed time, the elevator opens...but there is no Agent Jeffries. I believe this is because Jeffries is fighting what the forces are attempting to make him do. He is far from being a willing victim. (REMEMBER: Jeffries has pretty much been trapped in time - Between Two Worlds - for almost two years and HE IS PISSED!) So Cooper checks his watch a few times, goes back and forth between standing in the hallway staring at the security camera and going back in the room and watching the camera feed on a monitor. But at one point, COOPER SEES HIMSELF IN THE FEED. It's not a Good Coop / Evil Coop thing like with the Lodges. This is a time slip. OR two realities. Take your choice. Jeffries FINALLY appears, walks into Coles office and immediately tells all present, "Well now, I'm not gonna talk about Judy. In fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all. We're gonna keep her out of it." Cooper is distraught because the dream vision isn't going right. He interrupts the proceedings and says "Gordon..." and is cut off. He's about to say "Gordon, he's supposed to tell us all about Judy. In my dream that's how it went. I'm sure of it. Something's not right, Gordon".

This whole scene reeks of an alternate reality. One in which things aren't exactly the same as they are in the other. But does that then mean that Cooper was dreaming about an alternate reality? Or is the Cooper experiencing all of this in Cole's office actually from an alternate reality and doesn't quite fit. At one point, Jeffries points at Cooper and says to Gordon Cole, "Who do you think this is there"? He CLEARLY knows something about Cooper that neither Cooper himself or us understand yet. And again, Cooper hasn't even left for the town of Twin Peaks yet.

And then, after Jeffries tells them of having been to a meeting above a convenience store he turns to Gordon and says - as if to explain away EVERYTHING - “we live inside a dream”. Is the original world of Twin Peaks just a dream inside another reality? It was very surreal to be a real world. Are we just NOW finally seeing the REAL town and inhabitants of the town of Twin Peaks. Dr. Jacoby seems real woodsy suddenly. Are we finally meeting the REAL Dr. Jacoby? Who lives in a shack in the woods and collects shovels instead of Hawaiian shirts?

Was it a dream? Was it another reality? Is it future? Or is it past?

So yeah, Laura could easily still be alive. In one of the realities. You are absolutely correct that Leland tells the Good Cooper in the Lodge to find Laura. And Laura must have visited the Red Room through the painting because I'm pretty sure that when she awoke and saw Annie afterwards, she also then had the jade ring in her hand. The various town doppelgängers is interesting. But like with Jacques - wouldn't some people recognize him and know that there were only the three brothers? People who have died can't just come back to town. But I agree and have always thought that there were probably more of those interdimensional beings than just Bob running around in the streets of Twin Peaks.

As long as everyone doesn't end up in a diner with eight seconds of black film and silence and/or it all doesn't end up being someone's dying vision and/or the entire town is inside a snow globe in a souvenir shop somewhere, I think it will all work itself out in the end...

If everything turned out to be a bad dream due to some bad cherry pie Coop ate I think I'd cry. I doubt David Lynch would do that, though. I can't see him stooping so low as to cop out with a dream ending.

Ira Levin did that with his sequel to Rosemary's Baby, Son of Rosemary. I quite literally threw the book against a wall after reading that cop out ending (not to mention some continuity errors).

Anyway, mysteries aside, Twin Peaks for me has always been character driven. I was in my late teens when it first aired, and by the time I hit my 20's, was going through a really dark depression. I really connected with the sadness in Laura in FWWM (thank God that's the only part I connected with; I'm like freaking Suzy Creamcheese, never even smoked cigarettes let alone anything else).

I think maybe this weekend I'm going to rewatch Fire Walk With Me. It's been ages, and when it first came out, I never really understood the beginning; Id always skip it. The scene with Jeffries always went over my head. It'll be good to watch it with fresh eyes.

I am re-watching Fire Walk With Me for the 5th time and discovering new things! Fascinating!

also... listening to James and the girls sing the song in the den made me think of this... great album, and a David Lynch project... enjoy!

The original series had The Nightingale with that tinge of 1950's culture to augment the music.

James with the "James Dean" -esque appeal.

Audrey's shoes.

Cooper's gumshoe routine.

It all fit together.

I don't get the music though in the new series and how it helps to augment the shows environment.

Watching the new series is like being rung through a Kubrickian-like tale of psychological twists and turns through the human psyche for about an hour and then wrapping it up like an ABC Afterschool Special.....,in Oslo....

I just watched Parts 1 & 2 last night again for the third time. My son has been working hard and hadn't seen it yet. So I watched it with him. It just gets better and better the more you watch it and sink into what's happening. I'll give a synopsis at the end of this message. But let's see what all of you have had to say since yesterday...

You know, I heard about this show over a year ago. I'm aware of the plot and it sounds fantastic. I've even seen one of the opening scenes - the one in the laundromat. But I could never find any of the complete episodes to start watching it. Do you know if there's anywhere to get them?










I had the pleasure of meeting with and talking to Al Strobel (Phillip Gerard/Mike/The One Armed Man) during the filming of Fire Walk With Me and he told me then that he believed that the poem held all of the clues to what Twin Peaks is REALLY all about.

At that point, one of the lines was still in question. Was it "chance" or 'chants"? The original script actually had the word "chance" in it and I believe that that is how it was on the closed caption reading on television. But when I met Al, he very clearly told me that the hand written poem given to him by Lynch himself read as follows...

Thru the darkness

That is also EXACTLY how Lynch printed it in his Images book. So let's take a slightly closer look at this poem now that we've all gotten way too used to it. In light of new developments maybe it makes more sense now.

The Future Past - that can only mean the time between the present and the future. A very narrow window. A fleeting moment. But if we're dealing with different realities now - as I think we are - it would also be the moment when a switch could be made.

The magician - we still don't know if this means an actual person. If it does, it could mean Pierre Tremond who is "studying magic". Remember his little trick with the cream corn? Or it could be Cooper himself. Or the person referred to as the "Caretaker" in The Secret History Of Twin Peaks book (more on this later). Whoever it is, they are trying to glimpse that fleeting moment in time. Could the billionaire be trying to become a magician and that is what the glass box is all about? There is also a very similar glass box in The Secret History Of Twin Peaks book. I'll be diving into some of this stuff more over the next few days while we wait for everyone to get caught up watching Parts 3 & 4 (which, let me tell you, is going to add a LOT to this whole discussion).

One chants out - the next words must be repeated over and over (chanted) as the doorway opens in order to be able to leave The Waiting Room. And everything must be right. I believe if you are attempting to possess someone, those that are being possessed must also say the words on the other side in order for it to work. Or something like that.

Fire walk with me - Leland probably said those words as a child at Pearl Lakes when he first became possessed by Bob. We know that there was a scrap of paper with those words on it in the traincar where Laura met her demise and Ronette ran away for her life. Ronette probably refused to say the words which is why or HOW she survived. Anyways, that is why I believe the "chant" had to go both ways.










No. The Yellow Man in Blue Velvet was played by Fred Pickler who is NOT on the cast list for the new Twin Peaks. The fat cop is played by Brent Briscoe who did play Detective Domgaard in Mulholland Drive.










So, if you're like Suzy Creamcheese that means you never could quite cut the groupie scene either. Love the Frank ref!

If you're going to rewatch Fire Walk With Me, I suggest somehow getting ahold of it's companion piece - The Missing Pieces - to watch afterwards.

---FLASHBACK: The Waiting Room (The Red Room) - Laura Palmer tells Agent Dale Cooper that she will see him again in 25 years.
---Twin Peaks, Washington - Shots of the town including the now dilapidated saw mill and a quick flashback of a student running through the school parking after hearing about the death of Laura Palmer and finally ending on the school trophy case with the infamous Homecoming Queen photo of Laura Palmer which dissolves beautifully into...
---OPENING CREDITS - With brand new shots of the falls, the red curtains from The Waiting Room/Black Lodge, and the floor of The Waiting Room/Black Lodge
---The Waiting Room (now a Black & White Room) - The Giant (now suddenly not listed as The Giant in the credits but instead ???????) sits with an aged Agent Dale Cooper and plays him the sound of a record skipping at it's end which is the same sound we heard right before Maddy got killed. The Giant then says, “It is in our house now" followed by the cryptic clues “It all cannot be said aloud now. Remember 430. Richard and Linda. Two birds with one stone.”
---Twin Peaks, Washington ??? - Dr. Jacoby gets a large delivery of shovels; the last we know of him (from The Secret History Of Twin Peaks book) is that he lost his license to practice medicine in Washington State and moved to Hawaii, so we're not sure yet exactly where he is.
---New York City, New York - Sam Colby sits watching a large glass box with six cameras surrounding it making sure to change the film in the cameras and to watch and make sure everything is recording properly; a girl from the coffee shop named Tracey brings him lattes, but isn't allowed to actually enter the room with the glass box because Sam can't let her in past the guard that watches the floor of the building that Sam and the glass box are on.
---Twin Peaks, Washington - At The Great Northern hotel, Ben Horne is deep in a discussion with Beverly (an assistant or possibly the new Mrs. Horne) about giving a two night refund to a rich New York client - Mrs. Houseman - after a skunk got in her room; Ben is visited by his brother Jerry who is now in the weed business and brings a hydroponic mixture in the form of some edibles; though Ben no longer seems to appreciate and barely tolerates his brother's presence.
---Twin Peaks, Washington - At the Sheriff's Department, an insurance salesman stops by to see Sheriff Truman and we learn from Lucy that there are now two Sheriff Trumans - one is sick and one is fishing.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota ??? - A car rolling down a dark wooded road to the sound of weird music with the vocals all slowed down finally comes to a stop and we see that it is Evil Cooper; now some kind of drug runner or God knows what; he goes to a house, drops the guard at the front door, says hi to Otis, and then asks the woman in charge - Buellah - to fetch him Ray and Darya and they leave with "Mr. C" Which is what Otis calls Evil Cooper; though we're not told that we're in South Dakota, we can assume it (though it might not be Buckhorn).
---New York City, New York - Back to Sam switching tapes in cameras, but this time when Tracey arrives with the lattes the guard is mysteriously nowhere to be seen so Sam lets her in the room with him and the glass box; Tracey asks who is funding Sam's job to watch the box and he says it's an “anonymous billionaire” and mentions that the previous watcher actually saw something; they get comfortable, she strips, they start getting intimate, the glass box goes dark, a bizarre female alien looking not-quite-all-in-our-dimension entity appears in the glass box, then crashes out of it to kill the couple.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Marjorie Green and her dog Armstrong discover a bad odor coming from her neighbor - Ruth Davenport's - apartment and calls the police who arrive and after talking to the maintenance man Hank Fillmore (who seems more than just a little shady) discover Marjorie has a spare key; once inside the apartment they find a body in the bed; Homicide Detective Dave Mackley and Constance Talbot, CSI (who seem to have had a prior thing between them) show up and discover Ruth's head and another dead man's body in her bed.
---Twin Peaks, Washington - The Log Lady calls Deputy Chief Hawk and gives him a message from her log, "something is missing and you have to find it" also explaining that it has to do with Special Agent Dale Cooper and that the way he will find it has something to do with Hawk's own heritage (he's a Nez Perce indian).
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - At the Buckhorn Police Department, Constance runs prints and discovers that Bill Hastings - the high school principal in Buckhorn - has his fingerprints all over the murder scene; Mackley and the other cops go to Bill Hastings' house (Mackley obviously knows the family), says hello to Bill's wife Phyllis, and then promptly arrests Bill who tells his wife as he's being led away to call his lawyer, George.
---Twin Peaks, Washington - Hawk starts pulling out boxes of files from when Agent Cooper went missing over 24 years previously; he enlists both Lucy and Andy (who we learn had a boy named Wally born on Marlon Brando's birthday) for their help in gathering the old files for him to look at.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Bill Hastings is in the interrogation room; Don Harrison from the State Police in Rapid City shows up but assures Dave Mackley that it is still his case and that he's just there to help; Dave has known Bill Hastings since high school so they have Dave interview him; Bill claims to know who Ruth Davenport was, but denies ever being in her apartment; meanwhile, the cops are contacting the local judge who is currently "up the mountain" to obtain a search warrant for Bill's house and car; Bill goes over his recent schedule, but when he realizes that his times don't quite add up he clams up and asks for his lawyer, George; Hastings is then moved to a holding cell to await the arrival of his lawyer; then Mackley, Harrison and some cops acting on the newly attained warrant go to Bill's house and while searching the trunk of his car - all the while being watched very carefully by Bill's sketchy looking wife, Phyllis - find something "fleshy" looking under a cooler.
---CLOSING CREDITS - We are back in the black and white Waiting Room from the beginning of the show with the credits rolling over first a still shot of The Giant (or ??????? as he is now credited as) and then a still shot of the old gramophone in the room which continues to play the sound of a record skipping at it's end while the credits finish rolling; this episode is dedicated "In Memory Of Catherine Coulson" - The Log Lady.








There are SO many questions after just the first hour. Some are mundane. And some get answered as we move on with the show. But here's a list of what I came up with from Part 1 (if you can think of any more, please list them)...



QUESTIONS

1.) What do The Giant's new clues - 430, Richard and Linda, two birds with one stone - actually mean? We will obviously have to wait for this answer.
2.) Where exactly is Dr. Jacoby? It would make more sense to have him in the woods of Twin Peaks, but we last know of him being in Hawaii (according to The Secret History Of Twin Peaks).
3.) Why is Dr. Jacoby getting a crapload of shovels delivered to his cabin? We'll obviously have to wait for this to unfold more before we can understand it.
4.) What exactly is the purpose of the glass box? It seems to be a way of trapping beings that are moving interdimensionally, but is there more to it, how does it do what it does, and most importantly - WHY is it there to begin with?
5.) Who is the anonymous billionaire that is funding the glass box? It's probably someone that we haven't seen yet, but the question is whether it is someone that we know - Audrey Horne, Windom Earle's doppelgänger, etc. - or someone that we haven't met yet (and you may think that mentioning Windom Earle's doppelgänger there is a little weird, but did you notice the bonsai tree next to where Sam sat to monitor the glass box?).
6.) What was the entity that came through the glass box and killed Sam and Tracey and is it still out in the world? I can only guess that it came through the same frequency that they are monitoring which must have something to do with beings moving to and from The Waiting Room/Lodges, but the creature was VERY alien looking and not like anything we have ever seen before - even in The Waiting Room/Lodges.
7.) Who exactly is Ben Horne's helper, Beverly? She's being played by Ashley Judd so there's a good chance we haven't seen the last of her, but is she just an assistant or did Ben Horne get a new babe while we were gone?
8.) What is with the two Sheriff Trumans? I can partially answer that one - in The Secret History Of Twin Peaks we are told that Harry has an older brother named Frank who originally took over the Sheriff's position from their father when he retired, but then took a job with law enforcement in western Washington to be nearer his wife's family; at this point we don't know which one is sick and which one is fishing.
9.) What is up with Evil Cooper and what does he have planned with Ray and Darya? No way to know the answer at this point, but it is coming soon.
10.) What happened in the past between Detective Dave Mackley and Crime Scene Investigator Constance Talbot? The way he raised his hands makes it look like some kind of sexual harassment charge that came from Constance; or could the two of them have been married in the past?
11.) Who's dead and decapitated male body was found with Ruth Davenport's head? We'll definitely have to wait for more answers to this question.
12.) Where is Ruth Davenport's body? Is it somewhere else with the head of the mysterious John Doe body that was found with Ruth's head?
13.) Did Bill Hastings really kill Ruth and the John Doe in the bed with her head? He looks pretty damned distraught and not really guilty of the horrendous murders that are getting pinned on him - though he is obviously guilty of something.
14.) Why is Carel Struycken listed in the credits as ??????? instead of as The Giant as he always has been before? This isn't like the Jacques Renault/Jean-Michael Renault mystery - The Giant is still alive as far as we know and it sure looked like him, but he is now for some reason called ??????? in the credits (and it's bugging the hell out of me).

I wanted to like the new series, but based on the first episode, my opinion is "Meh."

The premiere was uber-violent, had a really dark vibe and was even more needlessly weird than the original series. And there was hardly a hint of the black humor that was seen through the old episodes. Apart from that, it was a bit depressing to see how much the original cast members had aged.
