Anonymous Coward User ID: 24978185 United States 06/06/2017 05:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One question, how old are the people that are applying to work at your company? If you say they are all under 30 or the majority that apply whom of which are under 30 are the ones with bad resumes, then you have to be lying. I can guarantee a large portion of the people you see applying are at least in their mid 30's to early 40's, seeing as how those were the dominant ages in the manufacturing job market. Most of whom lost their jobs back in 08 during the start of the recession and are still picking up the pieces today. Quoting: ALL 69963707 Anyways, if you have someone else help you with your resume, it then becomes NOT your resume, due to outside assistance, therefore the resume you get presented with will be given by someone whom in your eyes didn't care enough or didn't want to work hard enough to put effort into said resume so they had someone else do it. At least the people with shitty resumes you can assume did it themselves and had enough courage to bring it in, in hopes of being hired for their work in presentation. Just a thought. OP chose his wife based on her resume, it's very important to him |

That's sort of like looking to buy a suit at the gas station. Have them fill out applications with references, and then check them out that way. Interview them about their work asking pertinent questions about the tools or equipment, and then test the best ones on a bench. OP and several others in here think that resumes are the most important thing in the world Build a good one and get a job, or listen to the self-styled "experts" opinions about the necessity of resumes and get jack squat. Your choice. Suit yourself. If your goal is to find a large pool of qualified people for the type of work you need to have done so that you can pick the best all around person from that pool, do it the way I suggested. If you're hoping lightning will strike in your favor, do it your way. Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved. |

Most of the assembly work is done at a bench, with hand tools. The work is not difficult, but quality and consistency is paramount. Quoting: Azaziah We are entering into our busiest time of year, and steady growth combined with losing one of our senior bench techs has caused me to run some ads (after spreading the word around to friends and associates). I have been involved in the manufacturing business for about 30 years, and have seen thousands of resumes. The last couple weeks I have been reviewing a couple dozen resumes a day. What I am seeing now, is stunning and disappointing. When did people stop learning how to compose a sentence? When did they decide that a resume composed of two sentences is somehow complete? The poor level of spelling, grammar, and frankly effort has me perplexed and perpetually face-palming. So far, I have two resumes that were not immediately round-filed. Just two. If this is the current state of our potential work force, we are in trouble. I have felt this exactly for some time now. It is mainly dealing with staff over the phone, where they do Not even know their own job, product or processes. The cabal in their attempts to keep us dumb, ignorant and dependant are also taking apart people's basic ability to function. And this is not just intellectually, but physically also. The sheer number of children now with allergies, sensitivities or mental health conditions is astounding and getting worse. Our only hope is that this whole system comes to a grinding halt, and they desist with the chemtrailing, vaccines, fluoride & gmos etc. etc. |
