Its cruel. The owner that gave it up is a lazy POS. That cat was probaly confused and lonely wondering WTF happened to me, why am I abandoned?

Ah, no. My former cat, Roadkill, eventually died of old age. He lived a very happy life where he was very much loved and cared for. He was named Roadkill because literally one more vehicle he would of been dead. He was probably less than an hour from death when my mother literally picked him off the hot concrete just a little bit from our former electric company, CapRock's payment window. My mom witnessed Roadkill get run over by the dually truck in front of her and her husband's cousin. I forgot her name.

My mom asked her to stop the car. She did. My mom got out of the car and quickly grabbed the severely bloodied, and broken kitten. She got back in the car with the dying kitten. She used the bottom half of her shirt to cup and shelter the kitten. He came to long enough to look up at my mother, meowed once before emptying his bowels and peed on her. He passed out.

All three of them went to the discount vet's office initially. My mom just started to inquiry about the vet being in when she noticed a dozen or so cats that were up to chopped to pieces. Specifically, some were missing multiple body parts. Most were missing at least one limb such a rear leg. The vet came out to interview my mother. Turned out she (the vet) really wanted to chop up Roadkill saying he desperately needed to be without one leg, and was mulling over chopping off one of his arms too. That is when my mother said "Oh fuck no!" and left that vet office with the dying kitten still in her arms.

My mother and step father's cousin then went to our trusted vet's office back then. That vet treated Roadkill without dismembering him at all. He simply cleaned Roadkill's right leg at his hip and right thigh. Turned out his hip and right thigh bones were exposed in two large areas. This happened when he was run over by the dually truck. His hip was practically crushed while his right thigh bone was broken. Our vet simply reset both Roadkill's hip and right leg. After which he put Roadkill in a sturdy feline shaped cast for his lower half. After the vet bill was paid we took Roadkill home. He was very much content for the first fortnight. He was just happy to be somewhere presumably safe from the dangers he was facing on a constant basis prior to being run over by the dually truck.

By about a fortnight later Roadkill became a very anxious and frustrated kitten. He no longer wanted to be in his sizable cardboard box. He wanted to be rough housing with Champ. Champ was one of my sisters' dog until she literally abandoned him at our mother's house and I took ownership of him with a month or two of that. Roadkill enjoyed rough housing with Champ. I should also mention that Champ at the time was an adorable black and brown-orange puppy.

By the time Roadkill's injuries had healed the only thing you could tell with him that was really off about him was his right thigh bone connecting at his hip was permanently offset. This did not ever deter Roadkill. He grew up to be a highly aggressive Love Me kitty.

That's a great story. We had lots of rescued pets and critters around the house all my life. Your mom is great in doing that for a little critter. They appreciate it, too and never forget us.
