I'm making homemade chicken fingers, smashed potatoes and a tossed wild green/romaine mix salad with olive oil, vinegar & dill dressing. Grape juice for beverage. I rarely eat anything I did not cook because I'm a fanatic about good oils. I do love a pizza every now and then, a fresh one, not a franchise one, but restaurants are not going to use the organic extra virgin olive oil that I use when I cook. Or I use organic virgin coconut oil. Oils are very important for health. As a vegetarian, ethnic cooking is more appealing to me since the American diet is meat based. I just don't like mac and cheese and potatoes that much and they don't have much nutrition. For nutrition, I prefer Mexican or Indian food. They are full of plant proteins and lots of fresh veggies. I made a salsa verde from tomatillos, cilantro, roasted jalapeno, and sweet white onion. I'm having that with an organic avocado, organic corn tortillas, and Mexican white cheese. I made some pinto beans with butternut squash that dissolves into the bean juice and gives them a rich texture and gives me vitamin A. I'll make some brown rice with turmeric to make it yellow. I saute the rice in coconut oil before I add the water, and the grains come out nice and separate. Yum. Rice, beans, fresh salsa, fresh cheese, organic corn tortillas...that's eating!!! Your dressing sounds yummy! I love food posts. Eat a handful of sunflower seeds a day for zinc and use real maple syrup for sweetening for the selenium. I like to throw sunflower seeds into my yogurt/granola breakfast. hippie much? |

I like to throw sunflower seeds into my yogurt/granola breakfast. hippie much? My older brother was a vegetarian/vegan/hippie for 39 years. His health wasn't the best even though he only ate top shelf vegan everything, including tofu, tempeh, seitan, other veggue "meats," etc. and tonnes of greens. His teeth started to fall out, then he read about Dr. Mercola and paleo diets etc. Mercola reported that NEARLY ALL SOY PRODUCTS CAUSE CANCERS OF ALL KINDS. Soy causes enlargement of men's breasts due to high estrogen content, etc. He STOPPED BEING A VEGETARIAN, COLD TURKEY, LITERALLY.. Turkey, warm turkey, turkey with gravy, steak chops (mostly) and everything in between he now eats regularly. His health came back, his skin cleared (that was awful, too). EVERYTHING IS NOW BETTER BECAUSE HE STOPPED BEING A VEGAN!!! I liked the vegan foods he ate but I am an omnivore! I like to eat nearly everything. I still eat meats and I still eat some of the vegan dishes I prepared whenever my brother would come over. Tempeh salad, made from fermented soy, which, along with most soy sauces (also from fermented soy) DOESN'T cause cancer. Par boiled/steamed broccoli, rice, green beans, cauliflower, you name it, I LOVE IT!!! One doesn't need to eat meat every single day of their lives. It's just moderation in everything, as they say, that counts! |

Tonight I'm making sausage one with spinach and cheese, onions and mushrooms. You're gonna stand there, ownin' a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistlin' bungholes, no spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser? |
