The messiah in Daniel chapter 9 is Cyrus not Jesus

Everyday I come to GLP and see christians debating about Daniel. They disagree about peace treaties or whatever.

First of all, Daniel is not talking about "The Messiah" in chapter 9. He is talking about an anointed. Anything can be anointed, ranging from objects to gentiles.

Here, Isaiah says who is an anointed that Daniel is speaking about:

Isa_45:1  Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

Scriptures also indicate that the 70 years of Jeremiah were completed with the advent of Cyrus the King of the Persian Empire. As it says:

“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled.” Ezra 1:1-3

Dan 9:2  In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. 

Jeremiah once said:

“and these nation shall serve the King of Babylon 70 years and it shall come to pass when seventy years are accomplished that I will punish the King of Babylon and that nation … and make it everlasting desolation” Jeremiah 25: 11-12
