No lie. One article I read last night was I believe from an Albertsons employee. She was under cancer treatment. Her manager knew of her needs. Well new manager comes on and does not know of her condition and refuses her bathroom break. She pee'd at her station in front of customers. Soooo, you wouldn't be the first. ;)

Where I work, we have a log for hazards. Every employee has to log at least 3 hazards a year. *Somehow* this magically affects our corporate metrics. I tell you in all seriousness there are entries on the log like: "Found staples on counter" and there's and "action taken"!! "Threw out".

Fuck me running.

At the very least, be glad you work somewhere that has a bathroom. About 80% of the time, I am working in industrial areas where there is none and I don't have enough time to get out of the area I am working to make it to a bathroom. I work in the power generation industry and often we are hundreds of feet in the air on towers.

During our busy times of the year, more often than not on a daily basis I have to piss in a bottle and shit in a 5 gallon bucket.

But, even at that, there is no time limit on how long I take to shit in said 5 gallon bucket... even if I'm 400 feet up trying not to get blown over by 30 mph winds.

You can always report the workplace to OSHA. You are protected by OSHA against any retaliation from your employer by being a "whisteblower", and you can remain anonymous.

As for the metering bathroom breaks, any potential blowback from someone shitting themselves at work or whatnot would be covered under the General Duty Clause. If OSHA can't cite an employer for something under a specific clause, they can always cite them under the GDC.

One time, I jerked off in the bathroom after accidentally touching my co worker's. It was so plump and soft, I had to let one out. I wasn't sure if I flushed or not, but I made sure to smell fresh when I walked out. Can't go around smelling like stale dick out in the world can we?

Hi Hannah! I worked at an ISO 9001 manufacturing co for 9 years.

The company was 39 years old, 160 employees.

after I worked there for 5 years, the owner retired and sold his company to the a group of managers.

they immediately implemented six sigma and lean, we went thru the torture of kaizens and their foolish outcomes over and over again.

eventually the company's productivity and quality assurance went so far south that they lost some major clients.

I quit in disgust (I was low level management, head of R&D)
and 6 months later they laid off 100 people.

That was 15 years ago and the company has never recovered.

LEAN is designed to destroy a company's workforce!! It is designed to force the independent and freethinkers to leave, so that only pliable zombies remain. The actual finished product is a secondary concern to micro-managing every employee's minute.

Lean is a TERRIBLE system, and all companies that adopt lean struggle with employee satisfaction and turnover rates.

Re: Bathroom use in the workplace being metered out/monitored
A Kaizen is an "event", usually a week long where you gather a "team" (I have come to hate the word team) of about 15 people. Consisting of "Outside eyes" (someone who knows shit about what you do), affected depts/parties, and "Subject specialists" (so if it affects your dept, and you know all, you'll be called in). You get catered lunches all week of all sorts of food you really don't want to eat, you can't get THE JOB YOU WERE HIRED FOR DONE all week because you're focusing on this other area of the business. On certain kaizens called "Presidents Kaizen" (meaning the CEO has some sort of vested interest in it) you are expected to stay over your usual 8 hours until the 'work is done'. In the end, it's like the 'team effort' is more important than the actual outcome of decisions made by those who don't have a flapping idea what really goes on in the area they're so desperately trying to improve.

My husbands work place has Kaisians(sp) and they even have to exercise in the morning before work as a group.
It sucks for him.

It's some company called VTI, they make fire retardant doors for commercial buildings.

They are so messed up, most middle management is trained by the lower paid old timers, most of the old times haven't had raises in 2-3 years.

They wonder why people get fed up and just walk out.

Sorry your company with a heart went under. Guess that's what it's come to in this day and age. Heartless mega-corporations. As I stated earlier, I'm looking to retire in 2 years. I cross my fingers and send a prayer up that it's possible. I'll have to work part time, but I'm OK with that as long as it's in some Mom & Pop type company. Or, a startup. It will be 14 years I've been with this company next January. I'd love to walk out tomorrow and never look back. But, being a responsible adult....

I'm not "seriously fucked up", but you probably, actually know that. I'm about to retire...do you realize how quickly a year goes by? Hopefully, I've only got two left. Then RETIREMENT (or semi, more like). While the place is turning to utter shit, we all make pretty good money. I can't imagine the salaries of those who totally buy into this crap (lean mfg) at our company as opposed to those of us who don't...I mean if I think I make great money....

I feel your pain!!! We've implemented Lean, software to manage 'jobs' (orders and builds), software to manage documents (I'm document control), NCRs and CAPAs. Do you think we can get one person from the respective departments to cooperate in the CAPA program (CAPA = Corrective Action/Preventative Action for those not in the know)? Oh no. Everyone is too damn busy trying to meet their goals in (another software program) WorkDay, meet the company metrics, helping OTHER depts. meet their goals for metrics and on and on and on. While upper management is so thrilled we implemented this CAPA program, not ONE OF THEM puts the pressure on their middle management to actually do the investigations REQUIRED by the fucking software! It's all for show.

*sigh*

What's left of our companies original middle and upper-management - people that were there when the company new and grew to 8 strong in the early 90s is half now. We're now about 200. The company sold like 6-7 years ago. Slowly becoming pure hell. Thankfully, I have a boss that is an actual human being. I voice quite frequently to her about what an affront this is not only to human existence, but on a spiritual level as well. Lean manufacturing is a moral killer, though it claims to be anything but.

The amazing thing about c. a. n. i. Is that if u were to bring what I just said to the shithead bosses attention their so stupid that they won't understand how to fix it.

& why they gotta monitor the bathroom to begin with. People are low moral & needed a breather. But Greed is insidious. They will rise & crash bcuz of it.

Especially if im workin there. I know sabatoge shit like that better & faster than they can implement the stupid shit.

I've done it a couple of times. The place pooped out & all were fired.

So my suggestion is to be more greedy than them intill u can find non shithead place to work.

Except most pull this crap so good luck.
