What a lot of you don't get is that the natural/herbals do no good with this. Tests don't reveal it, there is no cure for it-although one neurologist at DOD was able to show brain structure changes. Anonymous Coward User ID: 74999404 United States 07/04/2017 03:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm almost three quarters of the way through a month long cycle of Ciprofloxacin and Clindamycin and it is miserable. Quoting: marooned I have to weigh the pros versus the cons though, and based on what's going on I think I will finish the cycle. It sure beats the IV cocktail of Vancomycin and Tazzo something or another. Sigh. PRO-BIOTICS!!! GET ON PRO-BIOTICS!! STAY ON THEM. Hate to sound overly dramatic, but that's the only thing that "fixed" me when the Cipro or the Clindimycin did me in (still not sure which one, as I took them one after the other in about 1 month's time). Clindamycin "gave" me c.diff. I sure wish I'd read up on it BEFORE I took it. Stopped taking after the 4th dose, and had c.diff. shortly thereafter. Bad baaaad stuff. Clindamycin is notorious for causing c.diff., and yet the endodontist didn't think I needed to be made aware of that. Told me to "eat a cup of yogurt every day". Yogurt my arse. She should have told me instead to take billions and billions of probiotics! Luckily I knew exactly what I had, and acted. Went to the ER as soon as I started seeing blood and pink tissue, and a big black African doctor with a thick accent saved me. Gave me an IV of Levaquin, and sent me home with Flagyl -both of which carry their own risks, but had no choice since my gut was basically delaminating. I also took lots of probiotics and did the bone broth protocol to heal my gut. Got over it quickly with no relapse, thank the gods. Just as an FYI, people who do not have c.diff. already in their gut won't get the infection from taking antibiotics. If you've been exposed to c.diff., then you certainly can get a serious infection on taking broad spectrum antibiotics that kill the good gut flora which keep the c.diff. in check under normal circumstances. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 74676938 United States 07/04/2017 03:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | About 3 months after being prescribed them for a spider bite I realized I was very sick, I could hardly walk, talk, I felt like my entire body was shaking inside, pains all over, I have zero recall of the first few months, I lost almost all reading/comprehension. Went back to doctor who said it was 'panic attacks' . I was crying trying to tell him something was wrong, he would not listen. it was hell - it still is. My memory of those months is still pretty sketchy, but somehow after leaving the doctors office I went online and found some info on detoxing. I started taking organic cinnamon and Ziolite 3xs a day Within about 2 weeks I was almost ok. That was 7 years ago - and I'm still just almost ok..I don't know if I can walk from one day to the next, which foot or leg will give out. Thru the years I've also found if I eat any meat, dairy, eggs from an animal who has been given them- it starts all over again. Avoid them at all costs - its just a time bomb, there is no going back. |

But in researching C-diff, I found that MOST of the people on the forum I went on had been prescribed Clindmyacin, so....not sure which. it can be caused by any antibiotic that kills off the healthy gut flora. Clindamycin, Gentamycin, Cipro, etc, take your pick. Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75104718 United States 07/04/2017 03:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I want to thank the OP very much. I had taken a 12-month regimen of 4 drugs for Lyme Disease 18 years ago, one of which was Plaquenil, which I recently learned caused some of these symptoms. I thought I just still had chronic Lyme, but perhaps one of the 4 drugs caused me the lasting issues... Now, I find out that Cipro and fluoro's cause other symptoms that I have. I have taken one of these drugs at least 3X in the past 10 years for various ortho surgery and bronchitis w/pleurisy. The debilitating pain in my muscles and joints as well as multiple shoulder tendon tears and hip joint tears has been near-constant in the past 10 years. I do feel that both drugs have done me in, and hopefully some help in healing can be found soon. I am reading through this thread and the links provided. Thank you again. I have a place to start now. :) |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75010048 Yes, the BONE pain! It burns like a hot wire, especially in my upper femurs! I even had a cancer screen done 9 years ago when this weird pain started because I thought I might have bone cancer. And yep, I started using Kratom about a year ago when I learned of it. My stomach cannot tolerate aleve/ibuprofen, etc and I would not want to take any drug on a regular basis because of liver & kidney issues from the Plaquenil I took for Lyme Disease... Ugh! I am still not sure which type I like best, but I change them up. I only need about 1 gram (around 2 capsules, depending on which brand/formulation) so it is really inexpensive for me. My local smoke/vape shop had a serious sale a while back because the Feds were going to ban it...so I have tons of different varieties to try out. Thankfully they reversed that Fed threat and it is again being sold openly at a good price. |

Tendons and connective tissue are weakened. You can tear with the simplest of movements that posed no problems in the past. I searched for answers for years to the problems this drug causes. Yes, perpetuates vitreous detachment in the eyes with possible retinal tears causing blindness if not corrected by surgery. Latest that I heard is damages the aortic valve in the heart. Please advise everyone to not take this drug. |
