I've been thinking and praying about sanctification a lot lately. The litmus test for me is this: Is there anything....anything in my life that I would not gladly put on the altar for God to remove from my life (Wife, kids, pets, possessions, desires, leisure time activities, music, food, drink, acceptance by friends, etc...)? If anything gives me pause...I should be immediately suspect of that thing/person/desire as an idol. The balance to this is the idea that none of us are made righteous by our actions, instead righteous actions are a by-product of a heart/mind/soul surrendered to God and our desires transformed by loving him above all things.

That being said....God will destroy those who sins have not been propitiated by the blood of the Lamb of God...those whose names were not written in the book of life before the foundations of the earth were formed. That will include bacon-eaters as well as gnat-straining Pharisees.
