Say what? Well, yeah, that was Junior's original story, but he changed that. Does Sean read Junior's tweets? read the newspaper? Talk to Donald Trump? Who told him to say that? Maybe this is just feeding lies and confusion so that people start saying "the hell with this...who needs press conferences any more?" |

Beyond Spicey's idiosyncrasies and propaganda, isn't it possible that he was told to deliberately 'walk back' the Jr story, back to just adoptions and the 'Majinsky' Act? Trump Jr could have multiple legal issues here. Opinions about the value of oppo research and its meaning under the Federal Campaign Election Law are varied so Trump Jr may in fact be liable for more than just conspiracy and solicitation (I'm not an attorney). It seemed more deliberate to me than just a Spicey misfire. This could be a sign of increased anxiety in the White House. |

A Clinton Foundation donor company was at the center, and Russia retaliated to the sanctions by ending all child adoptions to US. 'as far as is known' there is nothing to lead anyone to believe that anything more was discussed. He is making a true statement from the point of view of the Whitehouse. 'as far as we know' means at this point in time they believe jr is telling the truth. Why would spicey restate what was said in the emails a)everyone knows already and b)he is PR for the WH. The fact is, jr states that nothing came of the meeting...if anything jr was telling a half truth, which is technically not a lie....spicey in his PR capacity was focusing on the results of the meeting and not the intention. Seems like the best move, really. Especially if they can come up with some proof that no valuable information was shared. |
