The 'good' and 'evil' thing is where they messed up. Neither can be defined objectively. Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil but then clothed themselves, rejecting their innocence. When they were about to be turfed out God offered them more clothes which they accepted. Had they declined and stripped off they would have remained in Eden. Even though they knew what was Good and Evil they chose Evil thinking it to be Good. Wearing clothes remains Good while nakedness is considered sinful and indicative of Evil. Seeing the nakedness of one's mother in Leviticus 18 remains a sin. It's not a euphemism for sex. It ties into Genesis and therefore is a false law.

They believe they are Good when they are not and he sees that. They have everything back-to-front and that is why they have no power over him.
