Are the Richy Rich's who pay extra for a blue cop light in their car still allowed to bypass traffic and park wherever they damn well please? Don't think so, although we stayed in airbnb places. I was expecting more heavy officiousness than we got, though there certainly is a fair amount of it, crossing the border on a train to Finland, the Russian border security guy took ten minutes or so to scrutinize my friend's Australian passport, confer with a colleaque, and the Finn came in making a friendly joke, the difference was striking. I didn't see any of that blue light b/s either. We like Finns, they come to Saint Petersburg for the express purpose of drinking like holes. Haha, I can imagine. I'm a Finn myself, but can't drink with that kind of devotion, an adult life in Oz has seeped it out of me (phew for that!) |
