The only reason I know what the 'rising sun' symbol is is BECAUSE of the Karate Kid. When OP asked the question I knew it was a bandana wirh a red circle on it immediately.

for anyone that wants to get there head clear on why some remember things differently. (please read all)

1- memories are faulty so they differ
2- There has to be a long gap in time from the last time you saw something that has now changed for you to see the mandela effect: as an example: In the James Bond movie with Dolly and her braces. The majority of people only watched the movie once or even twice, but both times a very long time ago. For this reason, the far majority of people remember her with braces.

another example that matches the above is 'mirror mirror on the wall'. If you're an adult and saw the movie decades ago and didn't watch it again, you will remember how it was. If you have kids that have watched it several times over the years, you likely remember 'magic mirror on the wall'.

It's about the span of time since you last saw it. If you only saw it once and then 20 yrs later, you see it again, then the mandela effect is strikingly clear to you.

But if you've bought the same product for 20 yrs and have seen it daily, you likely will argue strongly that there is no mandela effect for that item.

about 25 yrs ago, I heavily studied the JFK assassination and the zapruder tape as well as the official autopsy tapes.

I hadn't seen them for about 23 yrs and when I heard that there was a JFK mandela effect, I went right to the zapruder tape and i couldn' believe it! There are some very fundamental and striking differences!

The new tape shows what looks like Jacqueline shooting John and the bullet exits the side of his head! the blood splatter shoots toward the camera! Unfknbelievable!

In the original, his head sharply launches straight back as a bullet entered his forehead and exited the back of his head. The autopsy video showed a small entry wound in his forehead and a 3" exit in the back.

As to the 'why' of the mandela effect, we can only guess.

Nope , it was always red to signify the land of the rising sun.

That does NOT explain why 20+ years ago BearenSTEIN bears were "Stein" (Don't even TRY to explain that away because when my wife first brought a set of BearenSTEIN books home I stated how they HAD to be geuuish bears"
