Re: Thank you for your prayers during hurricane Harvey.
I want to thank all the wonderful people of GLP that offered prayers and help. I will never forget you and you are all in my prayers. May God bless you and yours.

Next I'd like to address the people who keep saying 5 million people should have just all left.

First off, a lot of people did leave. And I am proud of Dallas for taking in thousands of Texans.

My husband and I decided to stay for several reasons. The main reason is that Houston floods a lot. It flooded tax day, but the media didn't care because the Russia narrative was far more concerning. So because we have faced water many times, we are really strong and feel that it is better to be prepared, in your home, than be without at a shelter.

Because of GLP, we are preppers. We had food, water and all the provisions we needed to get us through. I credit GLP for tips and suggestions over the years.

We also stayed because people needed our help. Many first responders, and people in the medical field, stayed. I thank them all for their courage and dedication. My boss is a neurosurgeon and she was in a shelter because her home took in water, she is now volunteering at hospitals that took in patients that were moved from hospitals that did evacuate from areas.

The winds were not bad, so I never lost power. I am thankful for this. We served hot meals and had coffee for rescuers that traveled from other states to help our people. I am grateful for the Cajun Navy and am asking president Trump and gov Abbott to honor them for their bravery.

Many shelters had no food, water, beds, blankets or didn't take pets. As a result, many houstonians that could, took in other people's pets and helped save livestock. There were dogs, cats , birds, horses, donkeys and goats that survived because people stayed to save them. I thank God for these wonderful people.

Many people took in their neighbors and strangers...we made new friends and are closer to our neighbors.

I know some don't care, but we lost a police officer who was out saving people from water that overtook our freeways and feeders. My heart goes out to his family. He died doing his job.

I also want to tell those of you who wished Texas dead and said we deserved it for ignoring global warming, electing our president, or just because you hate Texas...that this is Texas and we are Texans. Many of us unite, most of us prayed, none of us lost our faith. We helped people of all colors and of all walks of life...liberals are angry because we showed the world that the race war is manufactured.

So maybe this was indeed Gods plan...to show the generosity and hospitality of the south. To showcase those that did good and those that are bad.

Again, thank you to everyone who prayed. I believe God was indeed watching...and you are all going to be blessed for your kindness.

Btw, president Trump is in Corpus Christi now...and he will be in Houston after...meanwhile the media ignores this. They also act as if this is his first rodeo at a state disaster, they want everyone to forget that he was there for Louisiana before he was even president, while Obama and Hillary didn't give a damn.

May god continue to bless our president and our Governor.

Thank you for your prayers, we cannot relay how much they really mean to all of us here. You are all amazing!

I will pray for your friend so God can heal that infection quickly. Your friend needs to get out of that bed and back to enjoying life.

I would like to thank people who prayed for me on this website. I was on the other thread but y'all kept asking for my whereabouts and offering prayers. it means alot coming from complete strangers. God is great! my city of pasadena was spared when compared to other parts of houston. i am forever thankful to god.
 Quoting: DrPuffenstein 72819323

Woohoo! I'm so happy your area was spared! I'm praying for Louisiana right now.

God is Great. And the power of prayer is amazing. The good people of GLP are incredible.

If there is anything you need, just ask me.

In the meantime, get in here and get a hug!

I will be volunteering tomorrow at some shelters! i would love to rescue people but im barely 5ft 6 and i might need some rescuing myself so i'd be useless. thank you very much! this did not diminish my faith; it only strengthened it
 Quoting: DrPuffenstein 72819323

Helping those in shelters is great work.

This really did strengthen our faith.

I didn't even know that it could be strengthened. But I was wrong.

Stay safe out there...I'm praying for you.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."

You've been blessed with much, Nameless. And that's because you acknowledge the blessings, and use them to do good for your fellow man. We all strive to be this way, and we are abundantly blessed, because of it.

We will know them by their fruits. This has been stuck in my head since the eclipse. Been telling it to everyone who will listen. Watch what people do when the bad things happen. You will know them by their fruits.

This is a lesson in grace and humility. Enduring it, makes you a stronger, more fulfilled being.

You're all in our prayers, everyone down there.

Re: Thank you for your prayers during hurricane Harvey.
Nameless, so very glad you and yours are safe. This whole catastrophe has been gutwrenching to watch, but I can't look away. My instinct has been to load up our trailer and truck and head south - but I'll wait a bit. The real work starts when the water recedes.

We lived in Liverpool in 1979 when TS Claudette came in. We were in a small country community on Chocolate Bayou. They now say we got 40" of rain in 24 hours - but at the time the weather service said 48" in 36 hours. All I know is, it was an unbelievable amount of water. Yes, surviving that kind of flooding is life-changing. It makes you very conscious of Whose hands you're in, when there's nothing you can do to protect/save yourself!! My family and I are alive today because of God's matchless grace & mercy!

But from experience I know that getting out of that flood was the easy part - when the water went down, the real work started. And that will be true again. The heat, the smell, the gooey mud, the risk of disease, the hard labor and long days...it will test the faith of many.

Those of us who have been watching all this from the safety of our homes must double down on our prayer over the next weeks and months. Just because something else grips the public's attention, we must be determined and diligent in continuing to pray as those who have lost so much try to clean up and reach a semblance of normal. It will be a long time coming for so many!

Please keep us updated, Nameless. The media will lose interest after a bit (they usually do when the crisis passes and the work begins). Everyone down there is in my prayers. Much love to all!

What an incredible ordeal you suffered through. And you're right, the next challenge is the clean up...we've already started. The sun was out today and people are already ripping drywall and carpet up.

For those still in shelters or no where near their homes, neighbors are watching out for their homes. Looters are a real problem.

I'm sure in a week or so, the media will be back on North Korea or some other anti Trump event to continue their agenda of hate.

But I will do everything n my power to keep people's spirits up.

I cannot give thanks enough...to all of you...and to God.

I really wish I could hug you all.
