Being from a rich and influential family SHOULD be a valid reason to avoid getting sent to war

I disagree. If you were born into money, profit from war in any fashion ( poilitically or economically) then you should be the first to sign up and /or send your kids. That has been the problem all along.

Anyone who has ever been remotely close to the military knows fundamentals of leadership and lead by example is pretty much near the top. Not seeing much of that nowadays,if ever.
