No offense OP but doesn’t that seem a bit too easy. I mean after all he (Jesus) preached about love thu neighbors, turn the other cheek and all that to just die on the cross for everyone in the future to simply ask for forgiveness. Remember you are saying that Hitler, Stalin, Mao, child murders and the like simply need to repent and believe on their death bed and bingo your forgiven.

I think more likely he came to tell humanity about the morals of god. That if you live a good life and treat everyone with kindness, love and forgiveness even those who have wronged you. Then you will be accepted in his kingdom. His sacrifice on the cross was for those who came before him. Those who did not have a chance to hear his message.

Just a thought

Although it is highly unlikely that Hitler, Stalin, ect. repented on their death beds, yes they had that opportunity. The Apostle Paul who wrote much of the New Testament, was a terrorist and murdered Christians before his conversion, but God saved him, so yes they could repent.

Jesus already told man about the morals of God with Moses and the law. The law was given to show man that he is a sinner. Living a good life can't save you:

Pr 16:25 There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death.

The prayer is based on this verse:

Ro 10:9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. 13 "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
