I agree that God gave us free will and it's ok to look into alleged errors, ect. They should not have gotten angry with you. I always encourage people to research because it always leads back to God and the Bible being true.

Your conclusion that the Bible isn't the Word of God would probably be due to not looking at both sides enough. There are troubling areas in the Bible that require explanation, but whenever you look into it, there is usually a good explanation. It's not about control because the Prophet wrote the Bible, the eyewitnesses wrote it. Jesus's disciples and half brothers also wrote books. The way that we know that it hasn't been altered for one is by comparing the Dead Sea Scrolls which predated the existing manuscript of that time by over 1000 years and when compared, it's clear that it has not been altered. Jesus CAN die on friday and rise on Sunday because in that culture, they count the day that the event occurs as 1. Our culture does not. Just like in China, a new born baby is counted as 1 year old. It also was NOT copied from any earlier religion, there is zero reason to believe that. We should talk more. You need to look at the other side of the story, not just what the non believers say. They are always looking to discredit the Bible and Christianity.
