You can never work your way to heaven. You are already a sinner and need Jesus Christ. If you trust in Him and what HE did for you to pay for your sins and believe that He died and rose again you are saved. That is the ONLY way anyone will ever be saved. You must obey the Gospel. You cannot work your way to heaven. It is impossible because you are already a sinner.

No. He was not lying. Just misunderstood by people hundreds of years later who took his words too literally. Took His words too literally meaning we actually BELIEVE what He says. You are the one who doesn't believe what He says. Wouldn't that be the same as to believe He is lying? So, should I interpret your words to mean whatever I want because after all, maybe I am taking what you say too literally?
