Re: Strange Phenomenon
Ok so ya know how when we get spooked, emotional about something or touched in certain places we get the goose bumps and or your hair stands on end.

Well for the last 2 months I have been getting super hard goose bumps and my hair standing on end all the time and it dose not matter what for.

Even when I am just speaking normally about something that should not get such a response.

My question is..

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Any ideas why this might be happening?

I have Lupus and I was thinking maybe it is attacking my nervous system or something.

Thank you for reading and I would appreciate any and all feed back!

Have a wonderful evening!

You could be having a mild panic attack. I have some that are very similar to what you are describing. Panic attacks do not have to be full on freakouts, the can be exactly what you are experiencing.

What is odd is that I had not had an episode in many years but just a few months ago they began again with no apparent cause. When I spoke with my doc about it he said it was really strange, I was his third patient in the last few weeks to be dealing with a recurrence of panic attacks thought to have been remedied.

If they become to much for you there is a good fast acting medication that works well and is cleared quickly from your body but I'm sure that the good people here will have some natural alternatives that would be better for you if you are interested.

Hey thanks.

Yes.. I was contemplating that myself.

I mean we all have a degree of anxiety and I have had panic attacks before. But I workout everyday to combat that. It has seemed to clear up any anxiety issues I used to have before.

All I can say is when the goose bumps are happening and all.. I don't really feel nervous or panicky. I just get mega goose bumps and all my lil hairs stand up.

I very much so thank you for commenting!

It's great that you found a way to cope with your past attacks. It's not always an easy thing to find your best way to counter them. The vast majority of the time I was able to use diversion techniques to tamp mine down. These recent ones are strange though, I've been calling them spooky episodes. They're just... odd. I'll give exercise a shot, maybe it will work as well for me as it has for you.

I'm glad that what your having now aren't panic attacks. I sure do hope that you find the reason though so that you can find a way to stop the sensations. Regardless of the reason it's unsettling when your body is doing something with no reason and to have no control of it. Hopefully it will just cease as mysteriously as it began. hf

Thank you ZuZu!

I appreciate all of your kind words.

And yes! Working out will definitely relieve your anxiety, if not knock it right on its ass!

Personally I love weights the best. It gets out all that built up energy that some of us carry and if not properly dealt with can lead to anxiety flares.

At first your body and mind will try to reject working out when you first start.

But don't let your mind trick you and give you reasons why not to workout. Its just realizing something is different and will try to trick you into staying the same way.

But after a while of working out daily (2 weeks tops) your whole out look will change. You will feel amazing, look good ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND best of all.... Your body and mind will start to crave working out!

Good luck ZuZu!

Have a wonderful day!

You are very welcome and thank you for the advice. hf

I used to work out daily but when I was dealing with cancer I just got out of the habit and never started again. I've been seriously considering getting back to it as my son has been asking me to go to the gym with him to help him out. Looks like now is the time. Boy, I know that my body is going to be giving me some complaints when I get back at it but I also know that it will be temporary.

Thanks for the encouragement, I think that it is just what I need.
Proud to share the basket with you.

I haven't had the goose bumps in a very long time, but sometimes telling my wife, I love you, will bring tears to my eyes. Even a movie, does it too.
