why you always carry your firearm in a holster

Just how could fat guys do this? And how would it be a reliable and safe carry method?

What ever don't print fug in the winter I could stuff my 1911 in my m-7 shoulder holster and have a m-7 bayonet on the strap.

Yes and no... It has a conversion that is able to handle smokeless rounds or BP. Though not the upper range of 1000+ fps, and soft cast least is best as the jacketed rounds will wear out the forcing cone over time.

A thunderer grip is a style of birdheads grip... Didnt come out until the 1877-1878, but fits on the 1860.

I carry this because it suits my needs best. I get into rough terrain sometimes and the single action just WORKS, always, every time. I live in a very rural area and dont expect to get into a gunfight with an entire squad any time soon... And If I did I would be carrying a RIFLE not a sidearm anyway. If I DO have a confrontation with two legged critters, the 250gr soft lead will handle the job, but I much more expect snakes or feral dogs, etc...

¡I hope they don't use that in any gun forums or they will be flagged as hate speech! As much as some people panic when they see a gun being carried, it's super rare for bad guys to use holsters. They're usually busy holding their baggy jeans up and checking the heater.

Two thoughts as a regular open carry citizen with occasional concealed carry:
1. A properly functioning gun in a proper holster is considered safe. There is no possibility of negligent discharge unless one makes the mistake of administrative handling while out and about.

2. A gun without one in the chamber is about as useful as a rock. Folks incorrectly believe they'll have both time and ability to rack a round successfully, which assumes your arms have not taken hits and you aren't having to fight the threat off your person. Most self defense shootouts occur within 8 yards and adrenaline ruins fine motor control meaning you may get a malfunction.

IMHO, anyone who carries a semi-auto for self defense is an idiot. Way too many things can go wrong... especially during a struggle. With a revolver, just pull the trigger again. Flame away...

Two things

-If you ever plan on a quick draw reaction, better know what you're doing (factor in those fine motor skills and adrenaline), we've all seen the video of the dude in the cowboy hat

-Revolvers malfunction

I'm still waiting on a revolver that can carry 20+1 and reload another 20 in under 2 seconds.

yup, holsters are your friend.

The cop is there to kill you, you get dead he goes home safe.

Not nearly as often as a semi-auto. And you don't have to worry about short stroking the slide, jams, stove pipes, etc.

Don't have to.

Just need to move.
