Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73394832 The people who want to carry guns like hollywood are a different shape . Boom . Really fat guys could carry in fat folds. Just how could fat guys do this? And how would it be a reliable and safe carry method? Last Edited by s. d. butler on 09/09/2017 04:39 AM |

Stormson User ID: 60513442 United States 09/09/2017 12:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It doesn't make the cops nervous? Back in the 50's and 60's, fast draw was a big thing. You've seen the youtubes. Draw with your right hand and fan the hammer with your left hand. No cop could get his glock out that fast. Otherwise known as the BEST way in the world to BREAK your single action. The ones you see in vids have been specially set UP to do that... By gunsmiths that specialize in cowboy action shooting or fast draw events. On a normal single action "fanning" will QUICKLY break the hand spring... I carry a snub nosed 1860 with a thunder grip and .45 colt conversion cylinder almost every day... I practice with a single handed draw as well as two handed.. Mostly I use the "off" hand, in two handed, to cock the weapon... I dont play dress up and all of my sidearms are every day "working guns". so you carry a shortened version of the 1860 Army percussion revolver converted to .45 Colt black powder cartridges? What is a thunder grip? Why would you use this as your carry pistol? Yes and no... It has a conversion that is able to handle smokeless rounds or BP. Though not the upper range of 1000+ fps, and soft cast least is best as the jacketed rounds will wear out the forcing cone over time. A thunderer grip is a style of birdheads grip... Didnt come out until the 1877-1878, but fits on the 1860. I carry this because it suits my needs best. I get into rough terrain sometimes and the single action just WORKS, always, every time. I live in a very rural area and dont expect to get into a gunfight with an entire squad any time soon... And If I did I would be carrying a RIFLE not a sidearm anyway. If I DO have a confrontation with two legged critters, the 250gr soft lead will handle the job, but I much more expect snakes or feral dogs, etc... |

As much as some people panic when they see a gun being carried, it's super rare for bad guys to use holsters. They're usually busy holding their baggy jeans up and checking the heater. :Pepe434: :Pepe270: All characters and events in this forum --even those based on real people-- are entirely fictional. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73722498 I worry about inadvertently squeezing the trigger, so right now I'm not carrying a round in the chamber. If any shit happens, they'll have to give me a second to chamber one. No doubt they would. Criminals are always gentlemen. Situational awareness is a good thing What are the odds you're going to have to quick draw, old west style? Not trying to be a smartass |

A properly functioning gun in a proper holster is considered safe. There is no possibility of negligent discharge unless one makes the mistake of administrative handling while out and about. 2. A gun without one in the chamber is about as useful as a rock. Folks incorrectly believe they'll have both time and ability to rack a round successfully, which assumes your arms have not taken hits and you aren't having to fight the threat off your person. Most self defense shootouts occur within 8 yards and adrenaline ruins fine motor control meaning you may get a malfunction. PureSnow |

If a cop reached for his gun, would you assume it was a threat to your life? Quoting: Pilgrim001 The cop is there to kill you, you get dead he goes home safe. |
