Aged hit hardest with 7 deaths one home; 6 deaths in another home despite receiving higher strength doses this year more people were given the flu shot, and also they would get the flu a week or so later. Spreading it to others. Medical staff and educators are forced to have the shots of forced out of that career. these people have major contact with the population and therefore spreading the flu. I got a head cold last week the first in years, I got it from friends who are in the medical field and only had their flu shots only to come down weeks later to spread it. Flu shots I think are for profit so many elderly died from the flu this year and why aged care promotes flu shots to all clients. yes we all know how well an elderly can cope when they are infected with the germ dead. |

Aged hit hardest with 7 deaths one home; 6 deaths in another home despite receiving higher strength doses True. One article talks about 4-5 elderly in two separate nursing facilities catching the flu and dying. I had just wanted to check how the Southern Hemisphere had gone as it our Northern flu season usually mirrors theirs. I need to now research this further, particularly the nature and sub-clade (type) of H3N2 flu they were dealing with. |

Now that they are pushing flu vaccine, we can reasonably expect an increase of the flu to go round. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69246718 During last winter U.S. flu season a new subclade was mentioned with very little discussion as to it's contribution to overall flu numbers. Kinda like a footnote. Week 43 ending Oct 29, 2016 surveillance report said--Genetic group 3C.2a includes a newly emerging subgroup known as 3C.2a1. -- The subclade to H3N2, 3c.2a1 is possibly responsible for the ineffectiveness of last years flu vaccine in Israel. H3N2 has the ability to make quick changes in its makeup to evade vaccines. A recent study in Journal of virology two other similar subclades (3c.2a2) of which one is yet unnamed. See- Genetic divergence of Influenza A(H3N2) amino acid substitutions mark the beginning of the 2016–2017 winter season in Israel. -- For example: (Less than 20% rule) --The influenza A(H3N2) viruses demonstrated genetic divergence from the vaccine strain into three separate subgroups within the 3C.2a clade. One resembled the new 3C.2a1 subclade, one resembled the recently proposed 3C.2a2 subclade and the other was not previously described. Diversity was observed within each subgroup, in terms of additional amino acid substitutions. ...... The detection of three clear and different groups of AA substitutions, suggests that continued characterization of influenza A(H3N2) is necessary to see which group will prevail, prior to the decision regarding the future influenza vaccine composition. Yes I am aware Israel is Northern Hemisphere. I am citing this to provide scientific background on why MAYBE the Australians vaccine performed miserably. It is potentially (likely) applicable to the effectiveness of the North American vaccine for the upcoming season.-- This is what WHO had said in recommending their flu vaccine composition,--Antigenic characterisation of influenza A(H3N2) subclade 3C.2a viruses continues to be technically challenging but most recent 3C.2a viruses were well inhibited by ferret antisera raised against the current northern hemisphere vaccine component.-- Sorry this is so long but will probably get banned again so Ibwanted to get as much info as possible beforehand. .... As both influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and A(H3N2) viruses continue to drift, it is difficult to estimate with confidence the proportions of circulating viruses next season and the expected protection by the recommended vaccine components. The technical difficulties in virus culture, characterisation and egg propagation of influenza A(H3N2) viruses make the selection of new vaccine components difficult.---- |

Aged hit hardest with 7 deaths one home; 6 deaths in another home despite receiving higher strength doses The more vaccinations given, the more disease. That's how it works. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75494324 You know why they had to stop the small pox vaccine? It was causing too much smallpox. Now that they are pushing flu vaccine, we can reasonably expect an increase of the flu to go round. The reason they stopped was because it had been essentially eradicated in America. |
