I am talking 60s, 70s, 80s era here primarily on the East Coast of America. All the Italian mobsters didn't particularly like the black street thugs but the Latinos/Domincans/Puerto Ricans worked with blacks all the time.
The mafia bosses seemed to look down on blacks at the time but the Hispanics had no problem with them. In places like the Bronx the blacks worked with the Latinos to profit from their criminality. There were many gangs of street thugs made up strictly of blacks and latinos.
Yet the Italians never seemed to bother with the blacks and called them naggers etc
Given that the mob was not exactly law abiding and was involved in similar criminality to the blacks is there any reason they didn't align themselves with the blacks to make more money but the Hispanics did? |

Italians didn't like working with anyone who wasn't Italian and specifically from their part of Italy. Even if you were half Italian you could only be an associate (Hank Hill) not a made man.
Don't know how it was on the East coast but on the West coast the Black and Latino gangs were and still are killing each other. |
