I recently went matress shopping and bought a lovely, perfect, comfy spring matress for £300. Bit pricey but it's great. While I was browsing and when I asked the salesmen for recommendations, I was pointed in the directiom of foam matresses, costing an average of £1000. It seemed that 80%+ matresses on display were foam. Fucking foam. Cheap crappy sinking feeling foam. What a con.

I got a memory foam mattress from the foam factory in Mt. Clemens MI over a decade ago and still sleep on it. By far the best mattress I ever slept on and was $500 delivered.

I just bought my son a mattress about a month ago. Just a regular mattress but while I was in the store I sat on a foam mattress. It was amazing. It felt like it was just sucking me right into it. I would love to get one but I sleep on my belly so I'm just thinking that if I really sink into the mattress like I did when I sat on it, it might be heard to breath.

I'm not an expert but older foam mattresses were too soft, so that you sunk into it...however I bought a modern semi firm memory foam mattress that has 3" of memory foam on top of 7" normal foam, It cost £112 and I find it excellent. Stay away from Hybrid sprung memory foam mattresses, bloody awful.
