I apologize in advance if I distract from this thread with my ignorance, but if this is a simulation (and I'm starting to believe it is), then what is time? A programmed variable? I hear from so many different sources that "time is an illusion," and people who have NDEs report going to a timeless/infinite realm that they say awaits us all when we die. But in this construct, time is required for it to make sense; for example, if I wash clothes and hang them to dry, it appears to take time for them to dry. Or -- is it moreso something about how the water molecules are programmed that creates the illusion of time passing? Our lives seem to unfold in linear time; cells age and die, but that could all be programming, too.
Yet through it all, there is a part of us that is nonlinear; immortal, even -- at least that's what I believe our souls are. The ghost in the shell.
If the real "us" is immortal, why do you think we choose to come into this simulator?
