Free doesn't mean effortless, but this is a good place to start and not look back. Study to show thyself approved.

Study to show thyself approved is written to those who are already Christians. It's not talking about salvation.

I believe this concept covers not only believers but non-believers as well.

Ec:3:20:
All go unto one place;
all are of the dust,
and all turn to dust again.

Ec:12:7:
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:
and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Universal salvation mandates that all children of Adam and Eve are saved. A small number at the start of the 1,000 year reign who will call New Jerusalem home in the New Earth verses and the much larger group that is saved when the Great White Throne event unfolds as the last event before the New earth verses begin. The larger group build their own homes outside of the walls of the City.
That helps prevent believers from mourning over individuals who are obviously not gathered, knowing they will be gathered should take some stress out of seeing loved ones going the 'wrong direction'. If 2/3 are destined to see the return like a thief in the night compared to the version the children of the light experience then I don't think we can change that ration no matter how hard we try.

Ecclesiastes was written from a physical stand point, not a spiritual one. All go to one place, meaning physically, all people go to the grave. But your soul lives forever. There is no universal salvation. That's not Biblical. Do you just pick and choose which parts of the Bible you wish to believe and which ones you don't?
