EARTHQUAKE SWARM AT YELLOWSTONE, NOW, THE LONGEST EVER RECORDED
Updated |
The ongoing earthquake swarm at the Yellowstone National Park supervolcano is now one of the longest ever recorded, having started on June 12.
Over the past three and a half months, almost 2,500 earthquakes have been recorded in the western part of the national park. This puts it on a par with the biggest swarm ever recorded, where more than 3,000 earthquakes took place over three months.

From the article

The swarm in no way signals an impending eruption, and it appears now to be coming to an end.

Most people don’t care because they take the raw insane power of nature for granted.

If you include the earthquakes to just the north of Yellowstone at Lincoln and just to the south at soda springs it would be the largest of all time and is still ongoing .

I think it is the usual behaviour, "its not going to happen to me", "its not going to happen in our times"..
But you never know

it will be during a swarm just like this that the big show will get going, and have you noticed how crazy the world has gone since it started, too?

Something big is going to happen. I can feel it. And people forget. Yellowstone is just one of about a dozen maybe more of super volcanoes

We still wait for the Bali volcano, it seem it went quiet now.
But yes everything is going crazy lately.. I also read about sharks and other fish dying in the SF bay. May be another sign there.

As long as the animals aren't acting up, i think it is safe
Check out this great video on how the wolves presence changed the flora and fauna of the park in the recent years

Re: EARTHQUAKE SWARM AT YELLOWSTONE, NOW, THE LONGEST EVER RECORDED
problem is, when you look at all the recent historic swarms, they seem to be indicating the NW part of the caldera is getting very brittle, very fragile

how many more swarms in this part of the volcano before the crust becomes too weak to hold the magma down?

all it takes is one thin crack, one line of magma to make it to the surface, and de pressurisation will do the rest

on that subject, watch Sinabung, in the Toba system. that fucker has been erupting near constantly now for a few years

same thing there. de pressurisation could start a chain reaction. watch out for the other volcanoes nearby to start erupting. if they do, hi
