5th Annual GLP Pumpkin Carving Contest Is Over Link to voting inside

We don't get kids here where I live, , so it's probably not going outside. I'm just doing it to participate here, to join in and carve for the first time with youse guyses....at least that's my plan.

Gawd, my son knocked on my door earlier today, his mouth stuffed with gauze because he'd had six teeth pulled out (he's denture bound), and he wanted me to go to the pharmacy with him to get his 'scripts.

We were RIGHT THERE where the pumpkins were and I thought about getting them then, but he was already starting to feel the pain, so I didn't say anything.

I'm taking a big guy friend out to dinner on Saturday for his birthday, I might ask him if he'll help me haul them into the house....oh, dang, I gotta look for a lazy susan, too. I'm going to go look for one tomorrow.

Lifting when he just had teeth pulled would have been a bad thing.

I had 18 pulled almost two years ago. Then dentures. It was a hell I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Well, thankfully, this dentist gave him a 'script for some pain pills and an antibiotic. He had a wisdom tooth taken out some months back that they had to crack into four pieces and dig around to get it out, and that dentist would only give him a 'script for 800 mg. Motrin...the f'n moran.

At that time, my son was talking to me on FB about how much incredible pain he was in, so I went up the mountain and gave him two of my Tramadol's (I rarely take them, so I wouldn't miss them) and stayed the night in case he had anymore problems. I was concerned that they might've fractured his jaw given the pain he was telling me he was in, but my son told me they took x-rays after to be sure they hadn't...that's how brutal of an extraction it was.

*SHUDDER*....

Gawd, I didn't know he was getting those teeth pulled today, and I went all fretting Mother Hen with it... my blood pressure was jacked up a bit for awhile because of my concern for him. I really HATE it when my baby is in pain.

I know all about “Mama Bear” mode. We feel their pair!!!

They didn’t play around with the pain meds when they pulled mine, a big shot of morphine to go home on, Percocet 2-3 every 2-4 hours for two days then only as needed. Since I had them dentures placed immediately it was very very painful

In that case... did U know that TWD and Fear TWD are going to cross over next year?

It's looking like Abraham is coming back to join Fear TWD for an unknown amount of time.

Last season of Fear left off with them headed to Houston.....Abraham's backstory from TWD puts him as holed up in Houston before he had to kill a lot of people and his family left him.
...that plus the actor that plays him tweeted something about it. =-)

I am a big fan of TWD but could not get into Fear. Am I wrong? Is it really good and I'm missing out? I watched two episodes and then stopped.

I was a huge Abraham fan, was disappointed when he left. I'll have to tune in to the crossover if he's gonna be on there.

Finally got my pumpkins. Not totally happy with the shapes but couldn't find any tall ones, only roundish.

I am so ready to start but I didn't think about something. I usually sit in the living room floor to do this and watch tv. We have a new kitten - yup - you guessed it. This is going to be a huge entertainment value for the rest of the family, not me.

Speaking of Cousin It! One year I dressed as It. We took an old baret felt hat and began gluing yards and yards of yarn to it. This was in the mid 1970's in Phoenix. We never thought about how HOT that would be! LOL It was a hit and no one guessed who it was (the whole point) and since I was only 4'10" at the time, it was great.

Not much 'carving', but perfect fucking first entry!

LOVE IT! ...Artistic Vision, placement, humor...have ALL been deciding factors the past few years.

People tell me 'I can't do what you did', but it REALLY doesn't matter. I ONLY won ONCE when I picked a popular topic. Humor here has a one-up on anything else so far and you captured that perfectly.

....just have to make sure your 'maters are clear and ready for the next level...
