Iranians Step Up Anti-government Protests After Tehran Admits Downing Ukrainian Plane
Riot police and plainclothes officers could be seen massing in Vali-e Asr Square in Tehran as calls circulated for protests day after demonstrators chanted 'Death to the dictator'
Iranian protesters and newspapers piled pressure on the country's leadership and riot police stepped up their presence in Tehran on Sunday after Iran's military admitted that it had mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian airliner.
Riot police and plainclothes officers could be seen massing in Vali-e Asr Square in Tehran as calls circulated for protests later in the day. A large black banner unveiled in the square bore the names of those killed in the plane crash.
On Saturday, police fired teargas at thousands of Iranians who had taken to the streets in the capital and other cities, many chanting "Death to the dictator", directing their anger at Iran's top authority, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

If I do remember well enough and I hope I do, Them had to hop into the presidential chair right after the killing of the president Kvasnyevsky or something like that. Fact is the killed one REFUSED THE HELP OF IMF and he was tolerant enough with the gays so he had to be killed to promote Them which short after having the Polish presidency was promoted as head of European Union. He came even in my country with Merkel and others at Sibiu city in Transylvania to make a speech in... Romanian and he spoke it a billion times better than my American wife which is here for over six yrs lol. Whatever try to find the video of Smolensk from the woods when the guy with the Nokia 95 expressed continuously his stupefaction, and then the gun shots and the order WATCH HIM IN THE EYES AND SHOOT!!! They tried to blame Putin but they failed so... They just HAD TO KILL PUTIN AND REPLACE HIM WITH A... CLONE. HIS WIFE ASKED FOR DIVORCE SAYIN PUTIN IS NO PUTIN ANYMORE.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62095160

Oh okay that explains a lot. Thanks OP! Poland seems to be at the center of things, Germans and modern natsocs try to say Poland was the aggressor, whilest the media still tries to spin Poland as poor shmucks in the way of the barbarossa. I mean obviously Poland is food for Germany and Russia, it's very sad.

You thank for nothing. I was so horrified by The saying look into his eyes and shoot and they shot from a very small distance in the woods in the bushes in that misty morning. It was the silence that usually follows a catastrophe. The one who filmed had to pay with his life, being twice stabbed in the chest. First time he reached the hospital and at the second he died being stabbed in the ICU in Kiev. He might have been a Georgian citizen or something, maybe his killers I'm not sure right now

The region's turbulent situation is due to the corruptive presence of the U.S. and its cohorts: Imam Khamenei

Jan 12, 2020

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khamenei, received Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his entourage this afternoon, January 12, 2020.

In this meeting Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the turbulent situation in the region demands closer cooperation between the nations of West Asian region and asserted: The current situation of the region requires increased reinforcement of relations among the countries of the region and not being influenced by the foreigners’ inductions.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated Iran’s willingness to expand relations with other nations in West Asia, adding that: The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced, and the President has explicitly mentioned that Iran is willing to establish closer cooperation with the countries of the region.
Ayatollah Khamenei regarded the current situation of West Asia as unfavorable, and went on to say: The region's unfavorable situation is due to the corruptive presence of the United States and its cohorts; and the only solution for countering that is to rely on cooperation among the countries of the region.
Referring to the friendly political relations between Iran and Qatar, His Eminence stated: The economic relation of the two country is not as strong as the political relations; therefore the cooperation between Iran and Qatar should increasingly expand in common grounds.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized that: Of course, some countries— especially those who have come to our region from the other side of the planet—do not favor the expansion of cooperation among the countries in the region. However, they have nothing to do with this matter. The countries and nations of the region will no longer tolerate such intervention and domination.
In this meeting, with President Hassan Rouhani also in attendance, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, expressed that he was very pleased to meet with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, confirming that the West Asia is in a very difficult situation, and further added: We completely agree with your remarks concerning the need for increasing cooperation within the region, and we believe talks should be organized among the countries of the region on a larger scale.
Referring to his negotiations in Tehran, the Emir of Qatar added: Based on our talks, a common commission of the two countries is going to be held in Iran within three months, and hopefully, our economic ties will also expand to the same level as our political relations.
Sheikh Hamad Al Thani further thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran’s assistance, support and stance in the face of sanctions imposed on Qatar.

ISIS suffers heavy losses in fierce battle with Syrian Army forces

The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced last night that an Israeli warplane entered Syrian airspace from the U.S.-occupied Al-Tanf Zone in southeastern Homs. Upon entering Syrian airspace, the Israeli warplane reportedly fired several missiles at the T-4 Military Airport in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate, resulting in a number of explosions after the projectiles hit the base. According to a military source in Damascus, the Israeli missiles were partially intercepted by the Syrian air defenses; however, at least four managed to hit their intended targets at the T-4 Airport. The source said some casualties were reported, but the total dead and wounded is not fully known at this time. Last night’s attack by the Israeli Air Force marked the first time this year that they have launched airstrikes on a Syrian military installation west of the Deir Ezzor Governorate. The Israeli Air Force has targeted the T-4 Airport on several occasions in the past, including a devastating attack in 2017 that killed many Iranian military personnel.

Since then, the Iranian forces have reportedly deployed their S-300 missile defense system to protect their assets and troops at this installation in the Homs Governorate.

It should be pointed out that while Iran has a presence at the base, they are not the only troops at the T-4 Airport.

Russian and Syrian army personnel are also present at this installation, as both have aircraft at the hangars in the T-4 Airport.

1. Syria.

During a briefing, the head of the Center for the reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria, Major-General Yuri Borenkov, denied the reports from a number of mass media outlets that the US military impeded the work of the Russian patrols in the Syrian province of Hasakah. He underlined that «A communication channel still exists between the command of the Russian military group in Syria with the US Armed Forces operations center in the Middle East». It was also reported about an ongoing shelling of the positions of the Syrian armed forces and settlements by the illegal armed groups.

2 Syria

On Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced a joint statement, made by the inter-agency coordination HQs of Russia and Syria, which stated that instead of doing the previously announced withdrawal of the US troops — the US continue to increase their military contingent in the Middle East. “We strongly condemn the ongoing US attacks that violate the international law, undermine the sovereignty of the local states, and threaten the stability and security of the region” — the statement explained.

3 Russia

The Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree «On the working group gathered to prepare the proposals for the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation» — the Kremlin’s website reported. The group includes more than 70 people, such as public figures, lawmakers, scientists, musicians, artists, and athletes. The first meeting of the working group will be held on 17th of January. ‘TASS’ reports, while citing their source in the Russian Federation Council, that a country-wide vote on the amendments to the Constitution of Russia is planned to be held before 1st of May of 2020.

4 Libya

The head of the Libyan Government of National Accord, Faiz Sarraj, and the commander of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, have confirmed their participation in the conference on the settlement of the crisis in Libya. The conference is planned for 19th of January, in Berlin. The prime minister announced it during a meeting on Wednesday night with the political and military leaders that support him — the Government of National Accord’s page on Facebook reports.

5 Turkey

On Thursday, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while speaking in the presidential palace, announced that Ankara began sending the troops to Libya in order to support the Government of National Accord, headed by Faiz Sarraj. He underlined that it would be legally impossible to conduct exploration drilling or laying pipelines without a permission from Libya and Turkey. On 5th of January the Turkish president announced the start of the deployment of the Turkish troops in Libya. He specified that their tasks include «coordination actions» and «the security of the legitimate government

Re: Ww3 inch closer today update
A sudden international scramble to embed a credible ceasefire in Libya, due to be launched by world leaders in Berlin on Sunday, is already facing disruption after key Libyan oil ports were blockaded by supporters of Gen Khalifa Haftar – one of the main protagonists in the war.

The move to blockade oil exports is a new show of strength as world leaders try to force Haftar, the leader of the Libyan National Army who runs the east of the country, and Fayez al-Sarraj, the leader of the UN-recognised government in Tripoli, into a ceasefire agreement that can end a 10-month battle over control of the capital.

A blockade could result in the shutdown of Libyan oil production within five days, the Libyan National Oil Corporation warned.

Haftar has been attacking Tripoli since April, but Europe has so far done little to prevent the assault, apart from calling for a ceasefire.

Turkey and Russia have recently taken advantage of European neglect, caused by divisions, by sending in forces and turning the oil-rich country, a gateway for African migrants into Europe, into a playground for international intervention, akin to Syria.

Libya peace talks to go ahead in Berlin despite ceasefire setback

Russia has despatched mercenaries in support of Haftar, while the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has come to the defence of Tripoli government sending a mix of Turkish troops and Syrian fighters.

EU ministers admit that the divisions in Europe principally between Italy and France vacated a space that allowed Russia and Turkey to intervene.

Italy is now proposing a UN-mandated force, including Italian soldiers to police a ceasefire, if one is agreed in Berlin. Roughly 250 Italian forces are already in Libya securing a hospital in Misrata.

The Berlin conference, focused on ending the arming and financing of rival forces, has been planned for months, but was given a new urgency by the rival Turkish and Russian interventions.

Erdoğan and the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, tried to broker a ceasefire between the two sides in Moscow last week, but Haftar turned down the plan. Haftar has also been backed militarily by the United Arab Emirates, in defiance of a UN arms embargo, and UAE support for the ceasefire is essential to constrain Haftar.

Turkey has also bene sending air defence missiles to Sarraj to weaken the impact of Haftar’s UAE-backed drones and fighter jets.

Before the conference the UN special envoy for Libya, Ghassan Salamé, condemned the seizure of the ports, a sporadic tactic in Libya’s on-off civil war since 2011.

The UN Libya mission expressed “its deep concern about the current efforts to stop or compromise oil production in the country”. It added: “This move would have devastating consequences first of all for the Libyan people, who depend on the free flow of oil and would have terrible effects for the already deteriorated economic and financial situation in the country.”

The UN stressed “the importance of preserving the integrity and neutrality of the National Oil Corporation”. The oil corporation has been one of the institutions that has not split between east and west since the civil started, acting as a glue preventing the country from dividing.

There were also reports that Sarraj was threatening personally to boycott the conference, instead only sending a delegation in protest over the fact that Qatar and Tunisia, two supporters of his government, were being excluded from the Berlin guest list.

In a sign of the importance of Libya, Putin, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, the UK prime minister, Boris Johnson, and the US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, are to attend. Erdoğan is also due to attend.

A leaked draft of the proposed Berlin agreement sets out steps for both sides to disarm their militias, renewed requirements for international actors to stop supplying arms, and for all sides to recommit to a renewed political process.

“All foreign interference can provide some aspirin effect in the short term, but Libya needs all foreign interference to stop. That’s one of the objectives of this conference,” Salamé said in an interview before the Berlin summit.

Sarraj’s troops in Tripoli have been under attack since April from Haftar’s forces, with clashes killing more than 280 civilians and 2,000 fighters, and displacing tens of thousands.

Erdoğan urged Europe to stand united behind Sarraj’s government, as Tripoli’s fall could leave “fertile ground” for jihadist groups such as Isis or al-Qaida “to get back on their feet”.

The number of Syrian fighters deployed by Turkey in Libya to support the Government of National Accord (GNA) has risen to 2,400, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on January 19.

The London-based monitoring group revealed that 1,700 other Syrian fighters, who are now receiving military training in Turkey, will be deployed in Libya soon.

Fighters of the so-called Syrian National Army (SNA) are being transported by civilian planes from Turkey’s Gaziantep, to Istanbul and from there to Libya. These flights are not being registered, according to the SOHR.

“The planes are moving as fake domestic flights … so no evidence of arrivals can be found if the International Court wanted to open an investigation on the matter,” the SOHR’s report reads.

A day earlier, Syrian activists shared a video on social media showing dozens of Syria fighters aboard an airliner of the Afriqiyah Airways, allegedly heading to the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

During the last two months, Turkey stepped up its support for the GNA, which is facing a large-scale attack by the Libyan National Army (LNA). Army troops are now a few kilometers away from Tripoli’s city center, advancing slowly but surely
