3 little pigs springs to mind. Your housing market is nothing but an insurance scam.

Lets build houses made of wood in areas that are prone to fire, tornadoes etc.

Makes sense.

Insurance, you raise an interesting subject. Considering all of the destruction from the hurricanes and these fires, how can insurance companies possibly cover the losses? Will the Fed have to bail them out? Are rates going to quadruple? I do not see how it can continue at this pace. It appears to be unsustainable.

Ive often wondered why you build out of wood, lots of trees I guess+cost etc.

" I saw everything that you saw ... how the trees and shrubs all around looked unscathed, but the homes were entirely gone, and the vehicles were just burned out shells with even the tires burned off of them ... kept thinking how much it looked like the aftermath of 9/11! SO SICKENING to see this going on"

" and to know that it's most likely being done by our own "deep state"/shadow government. Someone in the comments here was mentioning seeing BLUE FLASHES in the night sky out there, and some have said that those flashes are caused by transformers as they blow, BUT I just went through Hurricane Irma here in Florida, and when the winds were at their peak, the entire night sky, very low on the eastern horizon, was a deep ROYAL BLUE ... a color I've never seen in the sky in all my life, including 2 other hurricanes. Then when the lightning flashed higher in the sky, it too was a deep royal blue ... and this only occurred when the storm was at its peak. "

"Otherwise, the lightning was its normal color ... so did that blue color indicate that they were "feeding" the hurricane with certain frequencies (or chemicals) to intensify it ... OR WHAT? Also, several days prior to Irma roaring through here, there was an entire RAINBOW in a FULL CIRCLE ... "rainbow rings" ... around the moon ... another sight I'd never seen before. "THEY" had been spraying chemtrails heavily for DAYS ahead of Irma, so I'm pretty sure the aerosols in the atmosphere were responsible for creating that circular rainbow. Again, thank you for confirming to those of us who have eyes to see that we are not alone. God bless you!"

Anyone here actually ever been to a house fire?

I have, you can get pretty damn close to one before it's too hot to stand there.

Heat goes up way more than it goes out.

Perhaps this is a way to force people into relocating. There have been a lot of disasters lately that have been hitting the coastal areas. From what a vaguely recall, the NWO plan was to have everyone live in a central area. Just a passing thought...

Re: fires defy law- houses disintegrate while trees still stand.
after the fires in Gatlinburg last year, I went driving around and looking at the places that burned the day after they allowed people back in. I saw similar things there, houses side beside one burned to nothing and the other untouched.
cars sitting feet apart with one burned so bad that it was impossible to know what type it was. The aluminum wheels melted and looks like it ran down the road like water. The car 10 feet away with not even singed paint.

A few trees were standing but non of them were evergreen trees and only the largest part of the trunk was still standing.

It looked very odd and nothing like you see after a house or something normally catches fire, but when we see most houses that have burned, we see them after firefighters have fought the fires. In California now and in Gatlinburg, there was no way they could even try to fight the fires. They had to sacrifice 95% of the area and put all effort in saving the remaining 5% and keeping escape routs as clear as possible.

In Gatlinburg there are only 3 roads that lead out of town, one small 2 lane goes across the to North Carolina, One 4 lane connects Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, and a final 4 lane that goes to a town 45 miles away and connects with the interstate there also. When the fires started burning in town all 3 roads had fires blocking them even though they are several miles apart. It was like the fores were set at the same time trying to trap people in town with no way out. I spoke with a forest ranger at the time and he told me that they almost had to be arson by more than one person. The fires had been burning in the national park for a while but all of a sudden the whole town was surrounded by fires that popped up 10 or 15 miles from the main fire.

You are correct.

I am watching it right now.

Trees all around. Leaves still on them all.

And in the middle of the trees smoking rubble.

someone hit someone
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75676862

This is not uncommon.

Homes can burn when the forest around them doesn't.

One example I recall was the 2000 Los Alamos fire.

What is going on here is that many of the trees next to homes are getting enough moisture from lawns etc that their live fuel moisture is good.
The homes are dry because of roofs and they don't have a root system sucking up moisture.

However, the forests nearby are tinder dry. No one is watering them and they are burning hot and fast. So the trees/brush away from homes is toast.

LOOK AT EACH FUEL and its location.

Full disclosure. I had a forty year wild land fire career.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75672287

this is true

lots of evidence from other fires

[link to media2.s-nbcnews.com (secure)]

but what started the fires to begin with?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75679685

In 1991 I was on one of about 100 fires in the Spokane area.
Fourteen of those fires took homes.

All fires were started by strong winds. A cold front came through and it was devastating.

I didn't see the burnovers. I was with a team that showed up the next day and established wirelines and containment.

Of course there were trees that survived, (Ponderosa and ornamentals), next to homes. They were well watered and were not downwind of a burning home.

If the live fuel moisture of a plant is high it probably will not be consumed by the fire.

Variables include the type of plant as some are naturally more flammable, spacing between heat sources and has the plant been trimmed and lower limbs removed?

It is common to have high fuel moistures in trees and shrubs around lawns in suburban settings.

Please note that some trees did burn or receive enough heat exposure that they have lost their needles/leaves. Some did not.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL.

The error here is not a magically weapon controlled by a diabolical government.

Its the maintenance of subdivisions designed to burn in wildfires.

This is exactly the same type of mistake we see in flood plains and on hurricane coasts. Humans building where they shouldn't be as developers walk away with bundles of cash.

The strong winds break trees and knock power lines together.

The sparks start fires.

I going to suggest that 90% of these fires were power line right of way issues.

The others were human stupidity in another form.

Two years ago, I think it was, my oldest son went down south of Sacramento and worked for three months clearing right of ways along power lines because that was what started the fires there.

I'm going to ask him if he's planning on a NAPA Thanksgiving trip this year.

We react.
We are not proactive regarding fuels issues and so forth.

Please note how tightly packed the homes are.
(Boy I'm glad I don't live in Cal)

In wild land fire to calculate what a (prescribed) fire will burn like you base your math on weather, topography and fuels.

Fuels are divided into different classes.
Live and dead.
Moisture content.
Size and so forth.

TONS/ACRE.
Can you picture how many tons of fuel there were per acre in that subdivision with the wind whipping through there horizontally (because of its speed).

Correct! And add to that that California homes use natural gas. In a very high heat fire the homes will actually explode into flames before the fire itself even gets there. Seen it happen many times.

Because it isn't the case.

A blast furnace is a specific thing, not just high winds spreading embers.

Trees survive forest fires until the forestry dept decided to justify their jobs by putting out the fires.

Nature will burn off the fuel on the ground but the trees survived until there was so much fuel on the ground that the trees couldn't handle it.

Once again we have a thread full of no knowledge people jumping to conclusions.

Cellulose fires (wood for primary fuel) Cannot reach 2700 Degrees F.

Regardless of the winds.

Nat Gas could do that but that would be limited to leak areas.

Its funny watching people spout off about something I did for 40 years.
In 17 states and on over 50 national forests.

In that setting not all the trees are going to burn.

If you get some closer pics one oddity that will show is needles being bent with the wind and killed from the heat but not burnt.

No oxygen means no consumption even though the heat is there.
Gusts of wind from a burning home will have no O2 to support combustion but the needles from pine and fir will be sculpted in the direction the wind took them.

They'll fall off later and those trees may well be dead.

Because agree still has needles on it doesn't mean its alive.
Some of the trees appearance could be what is fooling you guys.
