Doom in Stockholm —it is pitch black during daytime

The meteorologist on the tv (we have actual meteorologists) talked about the dark stuff and had drawn a dark cloud that came from the Portugal forest fires and got sucked north because of the tropical storm around Ireland, and went north and over to Stockholm . Never seen them do anything like that before.

Exactly, no sandstorms reported. And no sand spotted on the ground here either. And if sand from the Sahara was involved , how likely would it be to cloud the sun in Singapore? A GLPer from Singapore posted he was seeing the same phenomenon with the sun as we are in in Europe.

Do you smell anything different? Here in the eastern US, we could smell burnt wood in the air from the Cali fires. That's a few thousand miles!

Yesterday I came out of my door looked up and thought whats the bright orange light in the sky ? Took me few seconds to realise I was staring full into the sun. Completely freaked out for hours. Not daft, not young, well travelled, never seen the sun like that anywhere. Quoted poster makes good point. Even more interesting is the poster on this thread from SINGAPORE - somebody picked up on that - can't be anything to do with Ophelia or european fires there surely.
Anybody else in Far East able to report same ?

The weird thing is they posted a picture with everything in it yellow on Monday already .

Parts of the UK yesterday got the smell and smoke from Portugal and some parts just got the dust. My area got both and was like everyone had suddenly lit BBQ's and got so dark, the street lights came on just after midday. Really got to the back of the throat. Indoors everything went orange (was hard to see computer screen as it seemed to have gone blue) and outdoors it was quite apocalyptic looking like the wavelength of light had shifted significantly. Lasted several hours.

Idiocracy is all over the place these days.
Just your typical autumn/winter weather, nothing special, used to be like this for days on end back in the day.

SMHI now states that the darkness over the Stockholm stretch on Tuesday morning may be due to ashes from forest fires in Portugal and Spain.
