In my early 20s (in the 1970s), I did a lot of stupid stuff, but this one probably tops the list.
I was driving around on gravel roads smoking a joint in VERY backwoodsy country, though it wasn't too great a map distance from town. My car started making weird noises and I pulled into an open field entrance. I believed I was only about one hill from the highway, so I left the car and wandered deep into the field (in what I assumed was the proper direction) even though I was wearing a dress and work pumps. When I got to the top of the hill, I only saw another hill ahead of me, so I turned back toward the car. About 50 feet away, a trio of hillbilly-looking young men with overalls, shotguns, big beards, and none-too-friendly expressions were walking alongside the woods parallel to the path I was following and coming toward me. I realized I was in a perfect situation to disappear forever. I said "Hi" and kept walking toward the car, sure that they were going to run up and tackle me at any moment. Indeed, they weren't far away when I made it back to the car, locked the doors and peeled out of there, "funny car noises" be damned.
45 years later, I imagine they were farmers on their own land, wondering WTF I was doing back there and most of the danger was in my head. And I also realize that I had done literally everything stupid I possibly could to get myself into a potentially very bad situation.
Weed and I were not good brain partners!
