I've been reading up on it more but just wondering if anyone has found anything they personally feel helps during an episode or tips that can help pull you out of it quicker. Its damn terrifying. I'm exhausted and really dreading going to sleep later. Had a really bad attack of it last night and still very shaken from it. Quoting: **Aurora** JESUS. Most comes from the spirit world and you need to rid yourself of the spirit that is doing it. It works. |

Do you see aliens, the old hag, the tall dark thin man in a suit and hat? I've saw the aliens once, but many of my experiences were with the "dark man"...he's a bitch. Tried to pull me through walls during the paralysis. You aren't alone dear. Try not to sleep on your back, and if it happens again, call out for Jesus. |

I surround both myself and my family and home only with the love of God, there is nothing bad or ungodly in our lives. I believe because our faith in God is so strong it would make me a target for demonic attacks especially with the sleep paralysis. Don't drink coffee or anything stimulative for hours before bed, don't get over-tired. I only had these when I was working extra shifts or just not sleeping for 24 hours, times like that. It is scary to be paralyzed and hear that buzzing noise and the electricity coursing through you. Pretty scary. |

Don't sleep on your back, sleep with a small light on, and anoint your house/pray over it before bed. I find reading about sleep paralysis, studying it, watching documentaries on it make it occur more frequently, so be careful what you put in your mind during the day. And I can never call out to Jesus, since my mouth is paralyzed, but I pray and wiggle my toe or finger until I'm out. |

After I had managed to break free from the attack last night every time I tried lay down I could feel myself getting pulled back into it, was crazy. I love the song Amazing Grace as it fills my heart with love for God so I had that on repeat for a while. But that's a great idea about the Psalms. I always fall asleep on my side but wake up during an attack on my back. Both mornings and nights I say the armour of God prayer but I know evil is allowed to attack us to try and weaken us with our faith of God's protection. I find this to be an incredibly intriguing subject since many Sleep Paralysis victims' experiences are so alike. Here's a video that is 10 hours long, that is great to sleep to. It's a Christian pastor's class on dream interpretation. I think there is a positive to sleep paralysis; not everyone has it, but those who do may be more in tune with the spiritual realm. So you're probably more likely to have a vision or dream of Jesus, which are wonderful and life changing, and so worth a million episodes of sleep paralysis. |

Its not quite sleep though. Its somewhere between awake and asleep where im left detatched from my physical body but im aware. Im thinking and i cant move any of my body parts. I know im in bed and my body is asleep and i cant move any muscles. I know that if i could just move any limb or just twitch a muscle i could regain my physical body. The only thing that freaks me out is if i feel like my breathing is too shallow and i feel like im not getting enough oxygen because its sleep breathing and its not enough when im aware. That trance like state is where you are quite clairvoyant |

He sleeps at the foot of my bed like he is standing guard. I have had a few problems with it since then but it is always when he is not around. I also had an instance where I felt something hovering over my face, I could feel the disturbance, it was almost like an electrical buzzing. |

You can find deeper meaning yourself if you want to. Also, the more you mess with your dreams and sleep in general the more this stuff happens (at least for me). Falling asleep at odd times (for you), being exhausted, being interrupted and falling back to sleep, lucid dreaming, and of course trying to have out of body experiences are all things that can help cause sleep paralysis. Because in all those you are messing with the process that puts you to sleep naturally. First sleep paralysis is your brain starting to wake up before your body. When you go to sleep the first thing that happens is your consciousness "going to sleep". Then your brain tries to make sure your body is paralyzed so you don't act out your dreams. When this process miss fires you get woken up by leg jerks or by the feeling of falling. Sleep paralysis is the other way around. Your body is still paralyzed but your conscious is awake, aware, and is naturally terrified. The first thing you need to do is realize what state you are actually in. Just think about it. Your eyes are closed yet you are "seeing" in that state. So again I don't want to touch on metaphysics but lets just say its obvious that you are still in a "dreaming" state. You are basically having a dream where you are partly awake and you are aware of your body and the fact that you are in your body. I know this was already brought up but if you freak out in this state and try to force yourself to wake up "omg omg wake up now" You might get some false awakening type dreams where you think you woke up but you didn't. I hate those and I haven't found a way out of that state except for time. Now for how to get out of this state. Try to get out of sleep paralysis as calmly as possible. The one thing you do have control over in this state is your breathing. You may not realize it because your breathing is shallower while you are sleeping. In fact you may even feel that you are short of breath. But you actually aren't and you do have some control over it even during sleep paralysis (your brain wasn't stupid enough to lock down the lungs while you sleep). So stay calm and try to regulate your breathing. Make it deeper and deeper and stay calm (you can't just take control you have to nudge your breathing deeper and deeper). Just focus on your breathing. Eventually your brain will realize "oh I'm breathing differently something is messed up." Then you'll wake up. As a side note I found these odd states to happen more often when I sleep on my back so you may want to pay attention to that as well. But whatever happens stay calm and focus on your breathing. You control your breathing and you will wake up. :) |

Use a lot of hot water. Too little doesn't work. Not hot enough doesn't work. Get an angled pillow, so ur mouth will remain agape. Consider cracking the window, to get more oxygen. more tips? |
