test for two suns
I am a sungazer and can no longer gaze at sunrise or sunset because the sun is too bright.
this morning I glanced 1/4 of a second at the sun, it was too bright to look any longer. i used to gaze 15 min. at sunset and there would be a lasting impression when i would close my eyes. this morning after a 1/4 second glance, i closed my eyes and there was a two sun lasting impression. i tried it again, and again two sun lasting impression when i closed my eyes.

if you are afraid to look at the sun, look at a lightbulb for 5 seconds. close your eyes and see the impression. there will only be the impression of the one light source. now look at a light source with two bulbs, close your eyes and your will see two bulb impression.....
this morning, there was a two sun impression when i closed my eyes.

Re: test for two suns
ok but how far away are they? I sometimes think I'm seeing two impressions of the sun when I look at it. but usually I think it's just that it's so bright now my eyes shift just a bit, creating another impression, even if that shift isn't perceptible to us, especially when we're dealing with almost instant pain by looking at it.

yep, same here, OP. when i glance at the sun and away, i've seen one sun. when i then close my eyes, i see the two-sun impression. it's very weird.

I'm a believer that our sun is part of a binary system, so don't take my questions as a challenge to what you're saying, just trying to figure things out..as best I can anyway.

I've looked at the sun for long periods recently at sunset and see it doing some weird things like never before especially strobing, but I've never seen it with another bright star or sun.

Sounds like the years of staring at the sun have fried your brain.

I'm currently sitting in the sun and I had to raise my pants leg because the direct light is so hot it literally started burning my leg. It seems so much more intense.

Re: test for two suns
I did the test, and thought I saw double the first two times I tried it with a little bright dot in the 1 to 2 oclcock position. but then once I did it two more times having given my eyes time to rest, I looked down closing my eyes, refocused and saw two suns but one from each eye. so doesn't look like it.

Here's an idea, get a proper solar filter and look at the sun safely without damaging your eyes like an idiot.

Guess what you'll see? Just one sun.

Yes, if you want to view the sun safely. And surprise surprise, you'll only see one sun there as well.
